Mrs. Geraldean "Gerri" Hall

HALL, Mrs. Geraldean "Gerri" - Age 70, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Hall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Geraldean “Gerri” Davis Hall was born on September 9, 1951, to the proud parents of Mr. & Mrs. Willie Hal and Willie Paul Davis in Greenwood, Mississippi. Gerri was the second of eight children, seven daughters and one son. She graduated from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and a minor in Accounting. Gerri participated in Voter Education / Voter Rights / Voter Registration endeavors at an early age. Gerri began her career at General Motors Corporation, Service Parts Operations (SPO). She worked over 31 years at SPO, as a Senior Financial Analyst and Finance Manager. Gerri retired from General Motors Corporation a few years ago. She was a part-time Substitute Teacher in Flint and Grand Blanc Schools, working with young children. Gerri was Vice Chairman of the Genesee County Democratic Black Caucus, Genesee County Land Bank Advisory Board member, Flint Registry Advisory Board member, Genesee County Democratic Party Precinct Delegate, NAACP member, former Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus Secretary, former Chairman of the Genesee County Democratic Party, former Chairman of the Genesee County Democratic Black Caucus, former Michigan Democratic Party State Central Delegate and former member of the Board of Directors for Salem Housing. Gerri volunteered at one of the Jewels of our community, ‘Applewood Estate’, the Charles Stewart Mott Family Estate. She has also worked on many local, statewide and national political campaigns over the years, including both Presidential campaigns for President Barack Obama. Gerri has received numerous awards and recognitions for Community Service, including the prestigious Michigan Democratic Party, ‘Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Award’, for Promoting Equality and Inclusion of all people in the Democratic Party. In addition she has been recognized by the Flint Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women, North Flint Reinvestment Development Group and the Mid- Michigan District Women’s Missionary Society. Gerri was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend and a lifelong Democrat! There’s nothing more important than Family!! She has worked ‘For the People’ in the Flint/ Genesee County community, for over 30 years. She really enjoys getting people excited about how they can empower themselves and help make positive changes for the future! Gerri’s legacy will live on through her Amazing, Loving son, Carl (Samone) Hall II, her grandchildren, C’yana, Chase and Eden. Gerri’s immediate family includes her brother, Steven Davis, Los Angeles, CA, six (6) sisters, Lena (Heiko) Schroder, New York City, NY, Audrey Morris, Crestview, FL, Tiwanna (Michael) Crosby, Atlanta, GA, Dr. Ophera Davis, Virginia Beach, VA, Rosalind Portis, St Louis, MO and Rochelle Lewis, Gulfport, MS. Gerri also has many other loving extended family members including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Gerri was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willie Hal and Willye Paul Davis; grandparents, Clarence & Abilena Davis; grandmother, Maggie Bell Walls; great-grandmother, Mattie Cardwell; aunts, Earlie Strozier-Peppers and Judy Davis Gates; uncles, Robert, Clarence, Leroy and Andrew Davis; and cousin, Osylin Strozier Graham. Gerri was a faithful member of Ebenezer Ministries, where Bishop Urundi Knox is Pastor. She loved her Bishop and her church family. “Each one….. Teach one” is an old African proverb. Gerri felt everyone should strive to touch someone’s life in a positive manner, and watch as the world prospers
