ALEXANDER, Mr. Gerald - Age 81, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Alexander will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. On Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospital, the death angel came and took the bright spirit of Mr. Gerald Alexander away to a land that is freed from sickness, sorrow, pain and death. Mr. Gerald Alexander was born March 31, 1941 in Oktibbeha County, Sturgis, Mississippi, the son of Carl and Bessie Alexander. Both parents preceded him in death, along with 3 brothers, Barron Alexander, James Alexander and Larry Alexander; along with a sister, Carlene Smith. He met Annie after returning home from Flint, Michigan. After serving in the United States Army. She became his loving wife of 53 years and to this union, a son was born, Jerry Alexander and a daughter, Angela Alexander-Jones. Gerald confessed Christ at an early age. He was a member of Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church. Gerald graduated from Maben High School. He retired from General Motors Corporation. His hobbies included, traveling, watching TV (Family Feud), Blues concerts, attending plays and listening to music. Mr. Gerald Alexander leaves to his precious memories: wife, Annie Alexander; daughter, Angela Alexander (Bobbie Jr.) Jones, all of Flint; son, Jerry (Ettaronda) Alexander of Starkville, MS; 2 grandsons, Jerry Alexander Jr. of Flint and Jerrod Alexander of Starkville, MS; 3 step-grandsons, Kobie Houston, Kaden Houston and Erick Reed; brother, Tommie W. Alexander of Silver Springs, MD; brothers-in-law, Howard Lanier, Dennis Lanier, Gene Lanier and Maurice Lanier; sisters-in-law, Nilan Outlaw, Diane Lanier, Delois Coats, Shealey Lanier and Janice Lanier, all of Starkville, MS; a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to express special thanks you to Dr. Sierminski, Minnie and Marcy, staff of Fresynis Dialysis, nurse Hannah of Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc, MI and the team of doctors and nurses who cared for Gerald at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Thanks also goes to Bobbie Louis Jones Jr., Sandra Walker Pope and family, Gregory Johnson, neighbor and special friend, and Michael Grayer for all his kindness and thoughtfulness.
