Georgia Bibbs

BIBBS, Mrs. Georgia - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Wednesday, July 27, 2005 from the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:30PM. Brother Robert Muex officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Wednesday. There will be no public viewing. Mrs. Georgia (Johnson) Bibbs was born on February 6, 1929 in Watervalley, Mississippi, the daughter of Frank and Johnnie Johnson. She received her education from the Mississippi school system. Mrs. Bibbs was first united in marriage to Tommie Dye Sr., and to this union 3 children were born; Tommie Dye, Jr., Johnnie Bradford Dye and Debra (Dye) Burnett. Mrs. Bibbs was united in marriage a second time to Hezekiah S. Bibbs, Sr., and to this union 2 children were born. Hezekiah Bibbs, Jr., and Michele A. Bibbs. For those who had the pleasure of knowing our mother, grandmother and "G.G." as her great-grandchildren lovingly called her, you would know that she never met a stranger. She loved reading, traveling (especially nature trips), playing cards, cooking, music, and most of all spending quality time with her family. Mrs. Georgia (Johnson) Bibbs leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Hezekiah S. Bibbs, Sr.; 2 sons, Johnnie B. Dye and Hezekiah S. (Margaret) Bibbs, Jr., both of Flint, MI; daughter; Michele A. Bibbs, of Antioch, TN; brother, Willie (Doris) Johnson; 3 sisters, Alice McWhorter, Ruth Kerr, all of Chicago, IL and Rosamae Lewis of Detroit, MI; 6 sisters-in-law, Mary (Carroll) Smylor, Dorothy (Archie O.) Bibbs, Florence Dye-Moore, Annie M. Dye and Leona Dye, all of Flint, MI and Annie Lee "Aunt Tug" Dye of Milwaukee, WI; daughter-in-law, Sally Dye, of Flint, MI; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including 2 special nieces, Mary "Frosty" Leslie of Detroit, MI and Anita Smylor of Flint, MI; most of all her loving granddaughter to whom she raised as her own, Elizabeth L. Roper-Franklin, of Flint, MI. Mrs. Bibbs was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Johnnie Johnson; son, Tommie Dye, Jr.; daughter, Debra (Dye) Burnett; and brother, Frank Johnson, Jr. The Bibbs and Dye families would like to thank Dr. Mousa S. Mohamed and staff; Dr. Mark D. Wilkerson, ER Physician; Hurley Medical Center ICU staff; Johnetta Prosser, Patient Advocate- Hurley Medical Center; Brother Robert and Sister Lois Hairston, and last but not least, the brothers and sisters of the Mott Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
