Mr. George Franklin Patrick

PATRICK, Mr. George - Age 71, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Patrick will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral. Public visitation will be during family hour only. Mr. George Franklin Patrick was born April 23, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, the son of John and Minnie B. Patrick. George graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1972.” He entered the United States Navy, 1 month after graduation in July of 1972. George was stationed in San Diego, CA aboard the USS Reasoner. During his tour he earned the National Defense Service Medal. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he went on to work for General Motors Corporation as a Skilled Tradesman until he retired. George attended New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church with his mother regularly. He enjoyed skating regularly at Rollettes Skating Arena until it closed down. Dominoes and bowling were some of his pastime favorites. And last but not least along with his brother, Homer a.k.a. “Fox”, he loved motorcycles. Mr. George Franklin Patrick leaves to cherish his memory: 2 children, Tonya Louis and Lakiesha Cammon; step-daughter, Lashon Thames; 8 grandchildren, Ashantai Melton of San Antonio, TX, Rameer Houston, Oaisha Louis, Karand Houston, all of Flint, Nadia Turner of Grand Rapids, MI, DeQuan Thames, Jasmine Thames and Montia Thames, all of Flint; 11 great-grandchildren, Chutavion, Madison, Raegan, Rau’Mari, Avi, Madison, Malani, DeQuann Jr., Grayson, Payton and McKenzie; niece, Nicole Patrick; cousins, Juan Tucker and Tamika Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mrs. Ruth Horne-Patrick, Jim Orr, Lavard Louis, Jimmie Clark and David Patrick. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Patrick; 2 brothers, Johnnie and Homer Patrick; aunt, Shirley Tucker; and grandparents. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Peddireddy and Hurley Medical Center staff.
