JOHNSON, Mr. George Edward - Age 81, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, April 18, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Friday, April 18, 2025. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. George Edward Johnson was born on April 24, 1943, in Norphlet, Arkansas to Nelmon Johnson and Georgia (Dunn) Johnson. Mr. George Edward Johnson moved to Flint, Michigan in 1946 at three years of age. He married the late Mary Alice Johnson in 1992, and they shared many years of marriage before her passing in December 2020. He retired from General Motors in 1994 after a long, dedicated career. George loved fishing, playing dominos, going to the casino, watching cowboy movies, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Mr. George will be remembered for his warm heart, sharp wit and infectious laughter. He was funny, smart and he always knew what to say to lift your spirits. He was a natural motivator with a great spirit. He also brought joy and love wherever he went, whether sharing a joke or lending a helping hand, making life brighter for everyone around him. Mr. George Johnson leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters, Lisa Johnson, and Monica (Ondra) Stocker of Flint, Michigan, 6 stepchildren, Otho (Lisa) Williams, Gregory Hunter, Donny Williams, Renee Williams, Pamela Williams all of Flint, Michigan, and Sharon Wiliams of Long Beach, California. Grandchildren, Nicole Johnson (fiancé' Phillip Davis) of Pontiac, Michigan, Sharohnda Johnson (Devon Jones) of Detroit, Michigan, Larry (Shay) Strong of Flint, Michigan, Ondra (Candice) Stocker of Flint, Michigan and Terrance Stocker (fiancé Sharone Harris) of Saginaw, Michigan, 17 great-grandchildren Karim Jr., Nihajee, Rauchelle', Janasia', Laniya, Yusuf, Nina, Laayla, Aleeya, Ladontae, Yasmeen, Xaiver, Omni, Aubrey, Dakota, Bynlee and Briar. George also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Richard Nathanial and Blackwell. Honorary sons, Gregory Ussery Sr. and Antoine Jones, Honorary granddaughter Precious Williams and Honorary grandsons Roy Swims and Gregory Ussery Jr. Mr. George Edward Johnson was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Alice Johnson, parents Mr. and Mrs. Nelmon (Georgia) Johnson and a baby brother who passed away in infancy. He was also preceded in death by special cousins Leora Campbell, Lloyd Kilgore Sr., and Linda Kilgore. Special Aunt and Uncle Cloyd (Clara) Kilgore Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint, McLaren Oakland, Veronica and Tim at the Care Center Team and everyone who had a special hand in taking care of Mr. George.
