Mrs. Geneva Nelson

NELSON, Mrs. Geneva – Age 86, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Ronnie Wiggins officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Nelson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Geneva Nelson, was born November 16, 1929, in Scooba Mississippi, the daughter of Willie Simpson and Emma Lockett. She graduated from Flint Central High School and later obtained her Certification in Cosmetology from St Louis Missouri. She worked as a hairstylist at both Wrights and Greene Funeral Home. Some of her favorite pass time was cooking, playing cards and Bingo. She loved to help others. When you needed something or someone to talk to, she was always there. Most of all, in her latter years, she enjoyed sitting on her porch watching EVERYTHING. She would laugh, joke, and kid with the neighbors. Mrs. Nelson dearly loved her children, grand-children, even those that weren’t hers. She will definitely be missed by many. Mrs. Geneva Nelson leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Jonathan D (Gwen) Nelson of Grand Blanc, MI; Eldred Barney (Theresa) Nelson Jr. of Flint; daughter, Betty Lynn Nelson of Flint Michigan; 8 grandchildren, Equinye Harrison, Jonnard K. Nelson, Janeen (Trimel) Pharms, Jonathan D Nelson II, JaQuan W. Brisby, Nyah M. Leatherman, Aurelia Nelson and Gabrielle Rudolph; 4 nieces, Pamala J. Simpson of Flint, Nieshia Martin, of Duncanville, TX, Evelyn and Cynthia Nelson of Houston, TX; 1 sister-in-law, LuErma Nelson of Houston, TX; god-daughter, Deborah Wiggins of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by fathers, Willie Simpson and R. D. Eubanks; mothers, Emma Lockett and Betty Eubanks; and brother, Samuel Simpson. The Family would like to express special thanks to Higher Quality of Life Vision Center, New Beginnings Ministries, Word of Life Christian Church, Hurley Medical Center ICU Unit (Diane Bollinger), DaVita (Hallwood) Staff, and Grand Blanc Rehab and Nursing Staff.
