Mrs. Geneva Dent

DENT, Mrs. Geneva - Age 89, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Russell McReynolds, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Dent will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Geneva (Lissins) Dent was born November 17, 1930 in Hartsboro, Alabama, the daughter of Lizzie (Liggins) Lawler and Elijah Liggins. Geneva was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 60 plus years until she became incapacitated due to illness. She was employed at AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation until retiring after 30 plus years of dedicated and faithful service retiring in 1987. Geneva enjoyed cooking, she was known for her pinch of this and dash of this Pound cakes and German Chocolate cakes. She also had a love for gardening, growing apple trees from seeds from an apple. Geneva turned her yard into her personal flower heaven. But her greatest love was shopping with QVC she was on first names bases all the UPS drivers in her route area. Mrs. Geneva Dent leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Ernestine (Dent) Battle of Gary, IN, Marilyn Dent, Tammie Dent and Angela Dent, all of Flint; son, Larry Dent of Grand Blanc, MI; sister, Pinkie Brown of Hammond, IN; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; bonus daughter, Jacquelyn Hardy; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including, Dorthy Soles, Virginia Griggs, Minnie Vincent and Dorthy Hickman. Mrs. Dent was preceded in death by 2 sons, Emmanuel (Dent) Muhammad and Jesse Dent; grandson, Brandon Ray; great-granddaughter, Nahari Henderson; parents, Lizzie and Elijah Liggins; step-father, Haywood Lawler; 2 brothers, Ulysses “Sam” Liggins and Otis Liggins; bonus daughter, Tracie Vaughn; niece, Carla Bradley; daughter-in-law, Shirly Dent; favorite cousin, Bishop Brundidge; and a host of cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to Visiting Physicians Association, Grace Hospice staff especially nurse, Chrystal Polzin and her aid, Kim, Hurley Medical Center Public Safety Department, Al Serra Buick, the Liggins, Cleaves, Maxie and Vaughn families, and Angela’s Helping Hands, Eugene Robinson Jr., Rahmad Dent and Jacquece Hardy.
