KYLES, Mr. Gathalee "Kuta" - Age 57, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 6PM-7PM Tuesday, February 6, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Pastor Tellis Simon officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 11AM Wednesday. Mr. Kyles will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Gathalee "Kuta" Kyles, Jr. was born February 23, 1949 in Bolton, Mississippi, the son of Gathalee Kyles, Sr. and Burnice Thompson. Mr. Kyles left Mississippi in 1965 at the age of 15 and moved to Pontiac, Michigan, where he worked for Padlock Landscaping. Shortly after he moved to Flint, Michigan, where he worked for Fisher Body Plant # 1. He was sent from Fisher Body to Buick City and was a member of UAW Local 599. In 2005 Mr. Kyles retired from plant # 81 and GM after 38 years. He loved his family, friends, dancing, blues and westerns. Mr. Gathalee "Kuta" Kyles, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bobbie Jean Kyles; 3 daughters, Shirley Horton and CaTrisha Leigh Kyles (Michael Morgan) and Betty Jean (Andre) Brandon; 3 stepdaughters, Melketa Walker, Chaundra and Ebony Smith, all of Flint; son, Lucius Walker of Chicago, IL; 12 granddaughters; 10 grandsons; 7 brothers, Joseph (Bernice) Thompson of Flint, Daniel (Willie Dean Williams) Thompson, Willie Lee (Debra) Kyles, J.L. (Emma) Kyles and Harvey Thomas, all of Bolton, MS, Robert Earl (Freda) Kyles, Dennis Ray (Rita) Kyles of Jackson, MS; 2 sisters, Shirley Kyles Dinkins (Ivory Lane) of Clinton, MS and Tina (Melvin) Smith of Edwards, MS; a host of nieces and nephews including special friends, Marilyn Edwards, George Johnson, Polly Outland, Andy Brown, Sharon Mackey and Karen Smith. Mr. Kyles was preceded in death by his parents, Gathalee and Burnice Kyles, Sr.; son, Michael Lavelle; and brother, Willie James "Caveman" Thomas.
