SIMPSON, Mrs. Gail Elaine - Age 70, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Mrs. Simpson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W, Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, December 21, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mrs. Gail Elaine (Threats) Simpson “Goo Goo” was born March 17, 1950 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Louis Simpson and Hortense (Greer) Threats. Gail was raised by her step-father, Ira Threats. she was the second oldest of three children. Gail was educated in the Flint School System. As a young girl and most of her adult life she was a “Gypsie”, a free spirit if ever there was one. In her younger years she worked at Flint Truck & Bus and AC Delco, divisions of General Motors Corporation to support herself until she was injured and had to pursue other employment. Gail married the late Robert Young Sr. in 1967 and five children were born from that union. She loved cooking, dancing, Crossword puzzles, singing, fishing, playing cards, listening to music and having a good laughter over drinks with friends and family. Gail was many things to many people. Her kindness and friendship have been felt and experienced by countless people. Her big beautiful eyes, heart and open arms, always looked for the good in others even when others looked down on her. She was the kind of person who accepted you into her ever-expanding family. All were welcomed at Gail’s “Goo Goo” home. It didn’t matter if you were a squirrel, raccoon, cat, dog or deer. She provided you with food and shelter. At Gail’s house there was always an adventure and you never quite knew what to expect. Gail will forever be remembered as a selfless, kind, supportive and encouraging mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend who always wore a smile even when times were tough. Life’s trials and tribulations might’ve gotten the best of her on the outside, but inside she stayed strong. Gail had a quiet strength. She never complained of her limits and had a positive attitude along the way and looked to a better day. Gail loved and lived every moment she was given on her terms until God called her home. She showed such love, such selfness and from her this we all should learn what a gift she had of giving. Expecting nothing in return. To know her was to love her. Mrs. Gail Elaine (Threats) Simpson “Goo Goo” leaves to cherish her loving memory: children, Robert Young Jr., Raymond (Donna) Young, all of Flint, Sherrick (Elisa) Young of San Tan Valley, AZ and Tawanna (Prince) Rothchild-Shalonzee Young of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren, Traiyvuan and Raymond Colen, Shanay Young, all of Flint, Trayshon and Quaylon Young, Princess Azriel and Ahmani Rothchild-Shalonzee of, all of Perrysburg, OH, Emmanuel Young of San Tan Valley, AZ, Adrianna Young of Flint, Ja’Naya Henry of Saginaw, MI and Moni Murdock of Indianapolis, IN; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Bryon and Darryl Simpson of Michigan; beloved companion, “Cojo”; step-brother, William Gather; aunt, Beatrice Bell “Aunt B”; many nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousins, Curtis Cobbin, Linda (Collins) White and Antoinette Cheeks; sisters-in-law, Nellie Powell, Eva Mae Woods, Darlene Earnest, Emily Young; brothers-in-law, Arthur Young, all of Flint, Arnold (Cecila) Young of Indiana and Gerald (Crystal) Young of Chadds Ford, PA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Bobby and April of Marengo Avenue. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her son, Leonias Young; grandson, Edward Liyn Young; father, Louis Simpson; mother, Hortense (Greer) Threats; step-father, Ira Threats; brothers-in-law, Donald Young, Roosevelt Powell, Elton Earnest and Willie Woods; nieces, Michele Powell and Shavon Earnest.
