EDELEN, Mrs. Future M. - Age 75, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at The Pines of Burton Memory Care. Family hour 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Father Tom Firestone, officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Edelen wll lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing. Mrs. Edelen will be taken to P.K. Miller Mortuary, 204 E. Second Ave., Pine Bluff, AR 71601. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Future M. Edelen be made to any of the following local organizations as they were particularly important to her: - Whaley Children's Center - For-Mar Nature Preserve - Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute - St. John Vianney Catholic Church - St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Bluff Arkansas Future M. Edelen, 75, of Flint, Michigan, passed away on August 16, after a 26- year battle with cancer. Future was born on May 7, 1945 to Lucinda Cole Jackson and Percy Jackson Sr. in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Future graduated from Townsend Park High School in 1960 and received her Master’s in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2000. Future Edelen is survived by her daughter, Brenda Williams; granddaughter, Amanda Williams; brother, Percy Jackson Jr.; 2 nieces, Cassandra (Jermaine) Jackson and Marcia McQueen; nephew, Percy Jackson III; also numerous cousins, grand-nieces, a grand-nephew. Future is also survived by her chosen family, Dr. Vlenaetha Stewart, Dyanna Mitchell, Linda Moore, and many cherished friends and colleagues. Future Edelen worked as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan and as a Therapist with Hurley Mental Health Center, serving the flint community for a total of 48 years. Additionally, working as a real estate agent periodically over 20 years. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Community Resolution Center in Flint, the Flint Catholic Urban Ministry Gospel Choir, the S.P.E.E.D. Investment Club, the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Future also volunteered with the Dukette Catholic School Board and Beecher Community Schools. She loved to travel the world, and had adventures in Costa Rica, Aruba, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, Mexico, and Ghana. Future practiced yoga and was deeply motivated by helping others find purpose in their lives. She loved social gatherings, cooking, driving fast, and honesty. Future always asked that people just Be4Real, which was reflected in her license plate.
