Mr. Freddie Lee Johnson

JOHNSON, Mr. Freddie Lee - Age 72, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at House of Prayer Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Freddie Lee Johnson Sr. was born February 14, 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of the late Alfredia and Beatrice Johnson. Freddie was raised in Wilcox County, Alabama, where he graduated from Pine Hill High School, “Class of 1970.” He then moved to Flint, Michigan where he married his wife, Malinda Johnson and their union produced 5 children. Freddie was a faithful member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed as a mechanic at Al Bennett Ford, upon closing, he went to work at Chrysler for many years later retiring. After retirement, Freddie went to MTA driving the school bus for Flint Community Schools. All while doing what he loved most, being a “DJ” on Sundays. He also enjoyed cooking, traveling, spending time with his family and being in charge. Freddie was affiliated with the following organizations: John W. Stevenson Lodge #56 P.H.A., Saginaw Valley Consistory #71, and Oman Temple #72, where he was dedicated and served. Mr. Freddie Lee Johnson Sr. leaves to cherish his memory:2 daughters and 3 sons, Marcus Hopkins, Freddie Lee Johnson Jr., both of Flint, Tanisha Johnson of Birmingham, AL, Tremaine Johnson of Flint and Jacqueline Johnson of Montgomery, AL; 17 grandchildren, Darrail(Ute) Johnson, Montrail (ShaKyra) Johnson, Kenyai’re Johnson, Domonique Johnson, Joy Johnson, Mariah Johnson, Kamari’ya Tucker, JaQualin Cain, Da’Zaria Cain, Markasia Hopkins, Promise Johnson, Qi’asia Johnson, James Fuqua, JeCyah Johnson, Marcus Hopkins Jr., Markeis Hopkins and Jayceon Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Alma Solomon of Detroit, MI, Flora (Melvin) Davis, Patricia Waldrop, all of Birmingham, AL, Sharon (Jesse) Nicholson of Yellow Bluff, AL, Jackquelin (Larry) Foster of Birmingham, AL, Anita Triplett-Tobias of Snellville, GA and Rita Triplett of Birmingham, AL; 5 brothers, Randall (Amanda) Johnson of Flint, Darrell (Fran) Johnson of Birmingham, AL, Lee Thomas of Yellow Bluff, AL, Darryl Long and Raymond Johnson;, both of Flint; god-daughter, Sandy Hairston; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other close relatives, siblings by marriage and friends including special friends, Gemini “Dog”, Ms. Jody and Sam (Wendy). Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Malinda Johnson; grandson, Brian Johnson; parents, Alfredia and Beatrice Johnson; grandparents, Champion and Ezzie Johnson, William and Suzie Faush; and god-son, Dmitri T. Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center and McLaren-Flint ICU nurses and doctors. We appreciated all of your care, concerns and support you provided in Freddie’s time of need.
