Mr. Fred Moore

Moore, Fred – Age 92, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Byron C. Moore officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with family present from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Fred Moore was born May 11, 1922 in Morton, Mississippi the son of Mr. & Mrs. Mack and Addie Moore. He was a member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church for 65 years and served as a Trustee for several years. Fred was a member of the Men’s Chorus, Senior Usher Board, Missionaries and the counting team. He worked with the food bank and helped in the kitchen. Fred loved reading, fishing, gardening, and family gatherings. He was drafted and served in World War II: Korean Conflict and was awarded Victory Medal. Fred was employed with General Motors for 34 years. Upon his retirement from General Motors he worked as a custodian for Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church for several years. Mr. Fred Moore leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife of 74 years, Fannie Ella; children, Valentina Cooper, Tyrone Ward, Lynette Ward, Evalyn (Donald) Kellum; grandchildren, Lorene (Vincen) Bolden of Snellville, GA, Renee Cooper of Duluth, GA, Willa Cooper of Sherman Oaks, CA, Etoya Moore, Amber Hasan, Candace Ward, Tyrone (Liberty) Ward Jr., Monica (Henry) Scales, Erica Fletcher; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mahaley Davis of Chicago, IL, and Delores Ward of Tyler, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friends Sheila Morrow, Odell Clark, Billie J. Glenn and Marco Morris. Mr. Fred Moore was preceded in death by: parents; grandparents; grandson, Donald Williamson; son-in-law, Willie B. Cooper; sisters, May Alma Bolen and Maggie Pack; brother, Oliser Ward; and special nephews he helped raise, Freddie Mack and Edgar Lee. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Peddireddy and the McLaren Hospice Nurses especially his head Hospice Nurse, Jason.
