CLARKE, Mr. Fred - Age 82, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 Genesys Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:30AM. Pastor Marvin Jennings officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Thursday. Mr. Clarke will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Mr. Fred Frankton Clarke, Sr., was born December 8, 1924 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the son of John and Fannie (Mainor) Clark. Fred was a longtime resident of Flint. Mr. Clarke was a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served on the Hospitality Ministry, Sunday School, Communion Ministries. He formerly served as Youth Usher Board President and started Video Services. He attended Southern Christian Institute in Edwards, Mississippi. Retiring after 23 years of service from General Motors Corporation. He loved fishing, hunting, and family gatherings. Mr. Fred Frankton Clarke, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Modessa Reddick-Clarke; 2 daughters, Bonita (Chester) Nelson and Barbara (Willis) Lewis, Jr.; 4 sons, Charles (Cynthia) Clarke, Sr. all of Flint, Dale (Daisy) Clarke, Sr., of Detroit, Fred (Angela) Clarke, Jr. of Columbus, OH, and David (Michelle) Clarke, Sr., of Kathleen, GA; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Johnnie Jacques of Chicago, IL, Carrie (Dan) Ford of Madison, MS, and Betty Burnett of Flint; 4 brothers, Alphonso (Yvonne) Clark of Tchula, MS, Edward (Berniece) Clark, John (Pearl) Clark all of Chicago, IL and Bennie (Mary) Clark of Nashville, TN; 3 aunts, Hazel Clarke of Flint, Catherine Byrd of Chicago, IL and Rosetta Stone of Coriana, TX; 2 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, including special nephew, Alvin Clarke cousins, including special cousin, Eddie Lee Sanders, other relatives and friends including special daughter-in-law, Valeria Clarke. Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister; 1 brother; grandparents; 4 aunts and 4 uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Regional Medical Center ICU staff, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. and Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family, and all who were present and interceded in prayer in his final hours.
