BARBER, Mr. Fred - Age 69, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Barber will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the Heaven and a time to die: A Time To Be Born Fred Aurthur Barber, Junior, was born February 21, 1950 in Jonesville, Louisiana to Fred (Margaret Percy) Barber. A Time To Die On November 28, 2019 Fred gave thanks to the Lord while surrounded by his family and friends as he made his transition to be with the Lord. A Time To Plant Fred was baptized in Jonesville, Louisiana in 1959. He graduated from Jonesville Consolidated High School. He moved to Detroit, Mi and later Resided in Flint retiring from GM Fisher Body Grand Blanc, Local #1292. Along with marrying his Elementary Sweetheart. To this union an Angel that’s in Heaven daughter; Yolanda Rochelle Barber also sharing 3 sons Fredrick Greene of Washington, Charles Smith and Fredrick Smith of Flint, MI. Fred enjoyed helping his family, playing 7 Card Rum, listening to James Brown “Good Foot”, baseball, westerns and wearing his suits and driving Cadillac’s. A Time To Mourn Fred Aurthur Barber, Junior leaves in Gods care: wife of 30 years, Clara Barber; sons, Fredrick Greene, Charles Smith and Fredrick Smith; grandchildren, Charles Smith Junior, Christopher Smith, Rayna Camille Smith, JaSandra McDaniel, JaQoya McDaniel, all of Flint and Sharika Johnson of Louisiana; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Barber, Artise Barber, Kevin Barber and Earl Barber of Louisiana; sister, Lottie Dixon of California; aunts, Lucille Barber Jackson, Hurley Barber, both of Louisiana and Clara Percy Thompson of Sacramento, CA; uncle, Morton L. Percy of New Haven, CT; father-in-law and best buddy, Charley C. Swift; sisters-in-law, Diane Cureton, Gerlean Leverette, Sherri Swift, Selfronette (Ronald) Greene, Vhronda Brown and Shronda Wiley; brother-in-law, Lorenzo Wilkerson; god-sister, Linda Osbourne; special family and friends; great-niece, Yolanda Cohen; great-nephew, Harvey Jackson; a host of other relatives and friends including, Diane Cureton, Dallas Fagan, Cheryl Barber, Terry Barber, Rhonda Wilson, Debra Sanders, Barbara Dill, Mr. & Mrs. (Linda) Perry Gardner and Mattie (Bump) Lewis; and many surviving relatives. Fred was preceded in death by his daughter, Yolanda Barber; parents, Fred (Margaret Percy) Barber; brother, Orlando Barber; sister, Belinda Wilkerson; special uncle, Leroy Barber; mother-i-law, Armeader Swift; father-in-law, John Mays; brothers-in-law; Abraham Cureton and Danny Leverette Senior; nephew, Marques (MooMoo) Coleman; long time friends, Norman Alexander and Eddie Lane; and many unforgotten family and friends.
