Frank Poplar

POPLAR, Mr. Frank - Age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Doizer Memorial C.M.E. Church, 3212 S. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Poplar will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Frank J. Poplar was born November 27, 1934 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Daniel Poplar and Hettie (Stocker) Poplar. Frank accepted Christ at an early age, later becoming a member of Dozier Memorial C.M.E. Church. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Sallie Poplar, to this union one daughter was born. Frank attended Flint Northern High School. Later moving to Detroit, MI working for Daimler Chrysler Corporation and was a member of UAW Local 961. Frank enjoyed dancing, music (especially blues) and all sports. Mr. Frank J. Poplar leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Faith A. Poplar (son-in-law) Shawn; 4 grandchildren, Edward, Saniqua, Briana, Ashley; great grandchild, Javon, all of Detroit, MI; devoted sister, Doretha; brother-in-law, Earnest “Slim-Bo”; special niece, Tara; 5 great nieces, Meka, Chiquita, Najiyyah, Jasmine, Mariyah; 4 nephews, Darnell, Donta Sr., Marathon and Bernard; 8 great nephews, James A., Donta Jr., D’Airyonta, Daquan, Kalin, Makyce, Nasir, Tarvonion; uncle, Moses Poplar; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Samuel Pitts, Lonetta Jackson of Dallas, TX, The Smith Family, Lina Hall and family, Leon Randolph, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cooper of Houston, TX, Lika and family. Mr. Poplar was preceded in death by son, Joe Poplar; parents, Daniel and Hettie (Stocker) Poplar; stepfather, Willie Carr; grandfather, Paul Stocker; grandmother, Clara Robinson Jones; brothers, Booker, Marathon and Wilfred; and sister, Claudette. The family would like to express special thanks to Earnest “Slim-Bo” as Frank called him for his countless days and nights he spent helping to care for Frank, nephew (Caregiver) Darnell, Brenda Willis, Eckley St. Family, Rev.
