JOHNSON, Mr. Frank J. "Big Frank" - Age 79, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Friday, July 21, 2006 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Friday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. Frank J. "Big Frank" Johnson was born September 24, 1926 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the son of Marion and Irene (Burks) Johnson. Frank was a resident of Flint, and one of Jehovah's Witnesses of the Kearsley Lake Congregation, where he served as a ministerial servant. In 1998, he retired from General Motors Metal Fab. Division after 34 years of service. He was a member of Local 1292, and the coach of the local's Softball League Team from 1960-1967. Mr. Johnson was also the coach of the Boys Baseball for Fish King City Little League from 1968-1976, and also the captain of Fish King's Bowling Team. Frank loved music (especially Big Band Blues) and classic movies. He was able to tell the history of musicians and movie stars. He was very knowledgeable and always willing to share good, sound advice with others about everyday living. His sense of humor enlightened everyone he met. Frank was a loving husband to his devoted and caring wife, and an excellent father to his children. Mr. Frank J. "Big Frank" Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Ollie M. Johnson; 6 children, Keith (Alicia), Larry and Patrice Johnson of Flint, Eric Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Yvonne (Alonzo) Strickland of Dallas, GA, Michael (Krystal) Johnson of Novi, MI; 3 grandchildren, Myron (Courtney) Horton, Mario Johnson fiancÚe (Tatiana), Kennedy Johnson; cousins, Lucille Carter and Family, Doretha and Karen Almore; mother and father-in-law, Laura Body and Edgar Mallett; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Lois and Robert Hairston. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his son, Mark Johnson, parents, Irene (Burks) Kirkland and Marion Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Dr. Peddireddy and his staff, the Kearsley Lake, Dyewood and Mott Park Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Robinson family.
