Mrs. Frances Marie Fisher

FISHER, Mrs. Frances Marie – Age 70, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice-Flint. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Fisher will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Frances Marie Fisher was born November 17, 1943 in Marianna, Arkansas, the daughter of Willie James and Bessie Mae Cooper. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church while in Arkansas. Mrs. Fisher graduated in 1962 from Robert R. Moton High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball, cheerleading and being a member of the school choir. She joined the workforce immediately after graduation and for two years she was employed by a nursing facility in Marianna, AR. Frances moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated from the Visiting Nurses Association and was employed at the University Hospital for many years. While living in Ohio, Frances was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. In October 1981, she married Ernest Fisher, Jr., and relocated to Mt. Morris, MI. Shortly after, Frances obtained employment with McLaren Hospital until retirement. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Flint. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, dancing and she was very gifted at refurbishing old things. Her favorite song was “Harry Hippie” by Bobby Womack. Mrs. Frances Marie Fisher leaves to cherish her memories: husband of 32 years, Ernest Fisher, Jr. of Mt. Morris; 2 sons, Edward Scruggs of Cleveland, OH and William W. (Lana) Davis-Cooper of South Euclid, OH; 4 step-children, Kim Wilson of Salinas, CA, Tanya Fisher of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Fisher-Grant of Flint, MI, and Alex (Bridgete) Fisher of Grand Prairie, TX; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; parents, Bessie Mae Livingston; 7 sisters, Ivory Jean Atkins, Hattie Cooper, Alfredia Livingston, Tracy (Kelvin) Willingham all of Cleveland, OH, Betty (Frank) Allison of Marianna, AR, Willie Belle Livingston of Reno, NE and Perlene (Leslie) Croswell of Harvey, IL; 6 brothers, Marete Livingston of Cleveland, OH, Willie D. Cooper of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry (Jacquelyne) Cooper of Little Rock, AR and Robert (Mirian) Cooper of Thomason, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 5 aunts; uncle, Marion (Vanessa) Campbell of Ohio; sister-in-law, Pearl (Van) Richardson of St. Louis, MO; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Dorothy Allison, Lucy Porter, Cora Hawk, the Patton Family, Irene and Shirley. Mrs. Frances Marie Fisher was preceded in death by father, Willie James Cooper; brother, George Atkins; and grandmother, Isabell Campbell.
