PERKINS, Mr. Floyd “Flip” - Age 59, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Perkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Floyd Lee “Flip” Perkins was born July 5, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the son of James and Gearldine Perkins. He attended Garfield and Parkland Elementary Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Floyd worked as a Butcher at Stanley’s Meat Market and Shorthorn Meats. He married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Wells on December 23, 1991. Floyd enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards and making jokes with family. Floyd was a very sharp dresser. Mr. Floyd “Flip” Perkins leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Olivia and Dinnetta Wells; 2 sons, Andre Wells and Troy Perkins; 2 grandchildren, Dedrea Wells and André Wells, Jr.; mother, Gearldine Perkins; 3 sisters, Diane Perkins, Sandy Roberts and Annette Perkins, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Willie Lee Perkins of Pine Bluff, AR, Troy Perkins and Vernon Hopkins, both of Flint; 5 nieces, Qianna Thomas, Shamonia Wooten, Diane Wooten, Syleria Massey and Takia Thomas; 9 nephews, John (Renee) Thomas, Micheal Thomas, Curtis Thomas, Lawrence Hall, Roashell Hall, Marice Hall, Caphus Roberts, Marquis Tolbert and Kaleb Morgan; 5 aunts, Irene Page, Eva Perkins, Ann Perkins, all of Flint, Helen Perkins of Pine Bluff, AR and Doris King of Milwaukee, WI; 6 uncles, Willie (Jannie) Thomas of Chicago, IL, Joe (Sherrion) Perkins of Pine Bluff, AR, Lawrence Perkins, Jesse Perkins, both of Milwaukee, WI, Don (Mary) Thomas and Nathaniel (Ruth) Thomas, all of Chicago, IL; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Lorriane Green, Lula Gregory, Louis Strong, Sharon Wells and Bobbie Jean Evans. Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Perkins; grandson, Seandre Wells; father, James Perkins; sister, Emma Thomas; uncle, Don Thomas; mother-in-law, Olivia Wells; father-in-law, Johnny Wells; daughter-in-law, Latoya Atkins; brothers-in-law, Larry Wells and James Wooten; and close friend, Ronald Green.
