Mrs. Florence Thomas

THOMAS, Mrs. Florence - Age 77, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, October 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Monday. Mrs. Thomas will lie in state in the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public visitation will be during family hour only. Mrs. Florence Thomas was born March 22, 1947 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, the daughter of Alma Brown and Clement McClain. Florece was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Holy Ghost Church Of God In Christ. She graduated from Brookhaven High School, “Class of 1964. Florence was employed at Kith Haven Nursing Facility from 1980-1982. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with family & friends. Florence was the wife of Jesse J. Thomas, mother of 3 sons, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was strong, loving, thoughtful, caring, generous and a mother figure to those that weren’t her kids. My Mom was the mother, that held the wall of our family together. She was honest, up front, respected and loyal. Florence expressed herself through the love and emotion she showed to everyone. Mrs. Florence Thomas leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Jesse James Thomas Sr.; 3 sons, Gary D. Thomas along with his wife and family, Christopher Thomas and Jesse James Thomas Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Jasmine Joy Thomas, Jalen T. Thomas, Jaycen D. Thomas, Michael Blaise, Michelle Blaise, Joshia Blaise and Jasmine Blaise; great-grandchild, Jah’Kriss Thomas; parents, Jalen T. Thomas and Vinneshia Beckford; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, the Jones, Ward, and Burnett families, and all extended family and relatives. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Charles and Eugene Rancifer; 7 sisters, Kathleen Car, Jeniffer Burnett, Mary Ann Rancifer, Alma Brown, Alberta Sibley and Louisa Jones. The family would like to express special thanks to Jesse James Jr. for caring for mom all the way until she went home. The family also thanks Janice Jones, Daisy Burnett, Angela and Virginia Ward, Tonya Burnett, for all the support, assistance and love shown to our mother during her time of need before her passing and the love & support to our family during our saddest time. We thank everyone for your loved, care, assistance and everything you’ve done.
