HODGES, Mrs. Flora - Age 37, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Friday, August 7, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Willie Towner officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Friday. Mrs. Flora D. Hodges will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Flora Denise Hodges “Niecy” was born August 12, 1971 in Flint Michigan, the daughter of Olia Mae Wesley and Johnny Clay Nelson. Flora was a life long resident of Flint. She graduated from Flint Southwestern High School and Mott College. Being the loving and caring person that she was it was only natural that she became a nurse and gave the best care that anyone could give. Flora enjoyed watching the Food Network. She enjoyed cooking meals with her own new and improved style and taste. She also loved her family and friends, but most of all “The Kids”. The holidays were very special, full of decorations and filled with joy. She was truly a very special person who will be loved and missed. Always and forever, we love you. Mrs. Flora Denise Hodges leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Jonathan W. Hodges of Flint; 2 daughters, Geisha and Brianna Hodges, 2 sons, Jonathan Hodges, Jr. and David (Lauren) Wesley, Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Komura Wesley, Dave Wesley and Daniel Smith; father, Johnny “Clay” Nelson; 3 sisters, Earma King of AR, Yolanda Branch of Kansas City, MO, Gwendolyn Love of Flint; 7 brothers, Joe Frank Wesley Jr., David A. Wesley, Marvin Ester, Causazy Harper, Jr., Wilbur Harper, all of Flint, Milton Earl, Dennis Wayne of AR; 4 nieces, Dasha Hall of Kansas City MO, Corvette Wesley of Nashville TN, Che-Lisa Anderson and Khadijah Clemons, both of Flint; 2 nephews, Jason and Qunizell Hall, both of Kansas City, MO; 3 aunts, Annie Mae Wesley, Lovie Evans and Patricia Coleman, all of Flint; a host of cousins, including 2 special cousins, Maudrine Jones and LaTisha Wesley, both of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Kim Hall of Kansas City, MO, Libby Clemons of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Starla Boone, Darnell Houston, Brian Dickerson, Chris Harrington, Taji Laws and families. Mrs. Flora Denise Hodges was preceded in death by: mother, Olia Mae Wesley; grandparents, Flora and Cleo Evans; step-father, Causazy Harper; aunts, Lue Mae and Maude Evans; uncles, George and James Wesley; mother and father-in-law, Wesley and Georgianna Hodgers; cousins, Yolanda Wesley and Tawana Humphries.
