Mr. Ferrald Fredie Waller Sr.

WALLER, Mr. Ferrald Fredie Sr. - Age 105, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his residence in Pontiac, MI. Mr. Waller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, April 17, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Mr. Waller was born in Rockwood, Tennessee on October 16, 1914 to William Calvin Waller, Sr., and Julia Gillespie Waller. He and his three brothers: William C. Waller (Bertha), Jr., John Lee Jefferson Waller and Herbert McPherson Waller were born from this union. He moved into Flint, Michigan's St. John area in 1947, where he raised his family and attended Blackwell A.M.E. Zion Church in 1950. He served in many capacities at the church even taught Sunday School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army and was a sergeant in the 1944 Quartermaster Truck Company serving in Bristol, England. He received the Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2233. In 1947, he was hired at the Industrial Street Buick plant, which was the site of the iconic Flint Sit-Down Strike. He worked as a truck driver, and receiving shipping clerk and was a UAW member. He was known for his love of bowling, dancing and playing checkers. He was an honorary member of the Pontiac Golden Opportunity Club and served formerly as a Genessee County Uniformed Deputy Sheriff Volunteer Reserve member under Sheriff Joe Wilson. He was married to his childhood sweet heart, Julia Rebecca Johnson in 1941 and had four children: Ferrald F. Waller Jr, Glodena Waller Vann, Rosetta J. Waller Ruffin-Nesibith, and Ella M. Waller. His grandchildren include Julia and Rachelle Ruffin, Antoinette (Broderick) Hannah and Ferrald F. (Brittanie) Waller III and a host of great grandchildren including great-granddaughters: Amari Holmes, Anya Rose, Solana, and Saliya Hannah, Faith Waller and Camille Smith. His great grandsons Braylond Hannah, Mekai and Micah Waller. In 1973, he married Ms.Maggie Hardy and formed a blended family union expanding his circle of love to include her children: Clarence Hardy and family, John Hardy and family, Constance Hardy Vaughn and family, Jewel Jones and family, Jimmy (Katherine) Hardy and family, Holly (Warren) Peterson and family, Jackie (Frank) Anderson and family. He had a host of grandchildren and great-grand children from the Hardy union. A special friend the late Norma Williams and his Blackwell A.M.E.Zion Church family (where he was the oldest living member and he created a book scholarship for students). A host of relative consisting of the Gillespie, Donaldson and Howell families with special cousins Eunice "Honey Bunch" Rankin (deceased), Shirley (James) Oggs, Alvas and Booker T. (Carol) Gillespie. Special extended family included Willie Leggins, John Williams, Earl Ruffin and family, and the St. John area families:the Byrd, Leflore, Rison,Williams, Whiteside, Whitner and Woodward, and many more. He had a host of nieces and nephews including special nephew Clarence Franklin. He is survived by his grandchildren and their families, his cousins, special and blended family children and their grandchildren and their families. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Calvin Waller, Sr., and Julia Gillespie Waller, brothers: William Calvin Jr., John Lee Jefferson, Herbert McPherson,and siblings who died at birth George Edward and Mary Ella Waller. His wives preceded him in death Juila Johnson Waller and Maggie Hardy Waller and his children: Ferrald Fred Waller Jr., Glodena Vann, Rosetta Ruffin-Nesibith, and Ella Mae Waller. Former son-in-law Richard Nesibith and cousin Trixie Silar also preceded him.********At Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, we value the safety and health of our customers, staff and the general public. The prohibition on assemblages set forth in this section does not apply to: The prohibition set forth in this section does not abridge protections uaranteed by the state or federal constitution under these emergency circumstances.
