JOHNSON, Mother Fannie Mae (Brown) - Age 83, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at her residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 E. Humphrey St., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Terry Randolph Host Pastor, Pastor Danny Brown officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mother Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the family present from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mother Fannie Mae (Brown) Johnson made her Earthly transition to Glory on July 20, 2018, in Mt. Morris, MI with her family surrounding her. Fannie was born on March 1, 1935, to Steve Brown and Rosie lee Windmon in Osceola, Arkansas. As a teenager she moved to Benton Harbor, MI. to a small and popular neighborhood known as Townline. In 1968, Fannie Brown met Albert Johnson, and they were married on June 30, 1969. She leaves to cherish; three sons, Edward (Sarah) Brown, Anthony (April) Ewing, and Gregory Ewing. Four daughters; Shirl (Ricky) Snowden, Judy Owens, Jacqueline (Keith) Webster, and Cassandra Johnson-Keyes; 33 Grandchildren, 58 Great-Grandchildren, two Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends including lifelong friend Carolyn Roberts, and good friend Exie Alexander. An Angel walked this earth for 83 years. Not just any Angel, but one of GOD’s most precious angel’s. Some people called her Fannie, her sisters and brothers affectionately called her Sally, but to us she’s known simply as Granny, Mother, and of course Momma. Momma was as sweet as her Red Kool-Aid (and y’all know that her Kool-Aid was sweet), as fluffy as her Saturday morning pancakes, and as delightful as her Butter-Roll. I can picture her in heaven right now making Sonny-Boy a Pineapple Pudding. Not only was she sweet, but momma was Classy and Sassy, she always stepped in church every Sunday like she was walking the runway. Momma’s grandkids loved her best, from the oldest all the way to the youngest, Momma was the Sunshine in all of their lives. At some point in her life, Momma developed a love for Motorcycles. The colorful bikes, and the roar of the pipes were as free as her spirit. She quickly earned her name as Motorcycle Momma. Momma’s favorite past-time was dancing. “Just like the song says “Rock Steady Baby, that’s what I feel now” momma never missed the chance to get her dance on. Momma words cannot express how much we Love you, and how much we will miss your warm hugs, sweet kisses and unconditional love. Momma you have touched the hearts of many! Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Johnson; beloved son, Donny Ray Brown; parents, Steve Brown and Rosie Lee Windmon; sister Melinda Carter; and brothers, Steve Brown, Rev. Walter L. Brown and Johnnie Bell. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Terry Randolph and the Gethsemane Church family, where Fannie served on the Mother’s Board since 1998, the healthcare staff and clergy of Heartland Hospice, and the many pastors, churches, and family friends that have supported and prayed with us during this difficult time.
