Mr. Exzelton Hodo

HODO, Mr. Exzelton - Age 71, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, October 26, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Kenneth Williams, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Hodo will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Exzelton James “Zapp” Hodo was born July 21, 1947 in Reform, Alabama, the son of William E. and Janie (Hood) Hodo. He attended Hopewell High School where he received his diploma. Mr. Hodo served in the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War in 1966. Later in life he was employed as an Assembly Worker at Grand Blanc Metal Center, a division of General Motors Corporation. Mr. Hodo loved to cook, crack jokes, iron, dress and look good. He also loved to fish, listen to music and spend time with his family and friends. In 1982, he met the love of his life and companion, Glorydine Hodo. Mr. Exzelton James “Zapp” Hodo leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife, Glorydine Hodo; loving daughters, Denise Johnson, Telisa Branch, Marqueitta Brown and Mariah Johnson; loving sons, Curtis Hodo, Daniel Johnson and Louis (Reva) Branch; grandchildren, Jasmine Walton, David Jr., Devon and Demetrius, Gooley, Jolynne, Jaden Javian Jamarion, Jakirra, Jakhari, J’Meer and Jahzara Brown, Lashara and Lashawa Jackson, Louis Jr., Faith, Jaylone and Iyanna, Branda, Daniel, Devon and Keosha Johnson, Dawnielle Burnash and Curtis Scholett, Alexua, Amari, Quincy and Quinton Hawthorne; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, Shannon Hodo and Holly Boyd; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Hodo was preceded in death by parents, William E. and Janie (Hood) Hodo; siblings, Howard, President, Warren, Leslie, Leroy and Eugene Hodo, Mary Francis Hill. The family would like to sincerely thank Nurse Moon and the entire 4th Floor staff at Hurley Medical Center.
