Evester Darrough

DARROUGH, Mrs. Evester - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Bishop Odis A.Floyd officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Tuesday. Mrs. Darrough will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mrs. Evester Louise Darrough was born January 25, 1945 in Pine Bluff, AR. to the late Eunice and Dorothy Williams. A graduate of Townsend Park High School, Evester earned the Bachelor of Science Degree from Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College (A.M & N.), now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. In 1984, Evester received the Master of Science Degree in Reading from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. Evester pursued further study in the field of education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan to complete teacher certification for the state of Michigan. She retired from the Michigan Board of Education in June 2002, where she had been employed as both an elementary school teacher and a federal programs evaluation supervisor for 29 years. Evester was a member of the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Deaconess Ministry and a member of the Adult Sunday School class. In the Flint community, Evester was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association and served as past president of the Flint Chapter, UAPB National Alumni Association. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, James A. Darrough, Sr.; son, James A. Darrough, Jr; daughter, Tonya Natria Darrough; grandsons, James A. Darrough, III, and Deandre W. Darrough; granddaughter, Ashley N. Darrough; brothers, Charles L. Williams of Pine Bluff, AR, Sterlin D. (Priscilla) Williams of Baton Rouge, LA, and Ted W. Williams of Taylor, MI; sisters, Dr. Bettye J. Williams and Dr. Margarette A. W. (Lewis) Williams of Pine Bluff, AR, Shirley M. Williams and Robin N. Baylark of Little Rock, AR, Dr. Brenda F. Graham of Chicago, IL, N. Lucille Gilkey of Fort Worth, TX and Sonnya N. (Dwight) Adams of Wichita, KS; sisters-in-law, Minnie Jasper, Oakland, CA, Alma Jean Darrough, of Seattle,WA, Arlester Rauls and Curtistene Rauls; aunts, Versa L. (Sam) Berry and Velma Bailey, all of Flint, MI, Annie B. Ford of Saginaw, MI, Nettie (Harvey) Morrison of Phoenix, AZ, and Cloma Willingham, of Pine Bluff, AR; favorite nephew, Charles Darrough of Flint, MI; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and many loyal and supportive friends.
