MOORE, Mrs Evelyn - Age 91, passed away Thursday, February, 15, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 9:30AM Monday, February 19, 2007 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle St., with funeral service commencing at 10:30AM. Dr. A.J. Pointer officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 9:30AM Monday. Mrs. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mrs. Evelyn Moore was born January 7, 1916 in Greensboro, Alabama to Major and Maggie White. She attended school in Dayton, Ohio and finishing at Flint Northern High School. She married Willie B. Moore Sr., on December 12, 1935 and five wonderful sons were born to this union. She was a charter member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle and worked for General Motors Corporation and Genesee Bank before choosing to become a homemaker, to take care of her husband and sons. Evelyn loved selling Avon and sharing stories on the phone with her family and close friends. Although she was small in stature she was large in personality and humor. She loved to reflect on her earlier years with her five sons and the many humorous moments they have created. She would often give motherly advice to her sons, even after they were grown. One of her favorite sayings was "Baby, it?s always somethin?." Mrs. Evelyn Moore leaves to cherish her memories: 3 sons, Alvin, Gerald, Sr., and Willie B. Jr. (Annette) Moore; 8 grandson, Gerald, Jr., Roderick, Eric, James, Jr., Jeffrey, Ivan, Jason and Corey Moore; 5 granddaughters, Sherrill and Yolanda Moore, Tina and Melinda Yarbrough and Jeri Ingram; 15 great-grandchildren; cousin, Barbara Watkins and Josephine Goza; sister-in-law, Cloteal Moore Coney; nephews, Willie (Steve) White, Craig (Lennetta) Coney; niece, Renita (Reggie) Mays; special cousin, Ludelia Earley, and special friends, Sue Mills, Jesse and Barbara Nelson, Bettye Southhall, Versie Melton, Georgia Anderson; special son, Joe Vickers; and many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to friend and caregiver, Margot Morris, Dr. Paul Musson and Hurley Medical Center staff. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Major and Maggie White; husband, Willie B. Moore, Sr.; sons, James Sr., and Raymond Moore; sister, Lillie Bell "Honey" White; brothers, James and Robert White; grandson, Raymond Moore, Jr.; granddaughter, Monica Moore Mosley; cousins, Luvenia McIntyre and Corrine Ladd; mother and father-in-law, Ruben and Millie Moore; sisters-in-law, Ruby Moore Stevenson and Mildred Moore Isabel; brother-in-law, Lonnie L. Coney.
