Mrs. Evelyn King

KING, Mrs. Evelyn - Age 88, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Detroit Street Church of God, G-5328 Detroit St., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 PM, Bishop Earl Stewart, officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill RD., Grand Blanc, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. King will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM with family present to receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. Mother Evelyn King was born August 27, 1930 in Homerville, Georgia, the daughter of Elizabeth (Davis) and Willie Albert Dudley. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1952. Mother King was employed at the Durant Hotel where she met and married John Morgan King. Together they raised seven children. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with her family. She was especially known for making the best German Chocolate Cake. Mother King was a faithful member of the Detroit Street Church of God for more than 30 years, where she served as a member of the Missionaries Auxiliary and as President of the Mothers Board. Mother King made her heavenly transition on Sunday, June 9, 2019. Mother King was the loving pillar of her family, serving as the longstanding Treasurer of the Harris Family Reunion Committee. She will be sadly missed by her children: Ladean Akins of Flint, Johnnie Mae (Gilbert) Bransford of Palmetto, FL, Ronald (Jackie) King of Swartz Creek, MI, April (James) Tew of Rosamond, CA and Shemidia (Greg) Williams of Mount Morris, MI; sister in-law Joanne Moody of Meridian, MS; 3 brothers in-law; Arthur (Essie Bee) King of Bailey, MS; Roy (Sara) Neal of Marion, MS and Zeno (Mary Alice) King of Meridian, MS; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, John Morgan King; daughter, Carolyn Davis; son, Robert King; great-granddaughter, Adrianna Sanders; mother, Elizabeth Davis; father, Willie Albert Dudley; sisters, Beatrice Dudley, Florence Miles and Willie Pearl Atkinson; and brother, Albert Dudley. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls, and all other expressions of concern that you have shown during their time of bereavement.
