Mr. Eugene Moore

MOORE, Mr. Eugene - Age 88, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, January 20, 2023 at First Trinity Baptist Church, 1226 Beach St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Ezra L. Tillman, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Moore will lie instate in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. It was September 30, 1934 in Columbia, South Carolina, when Eugene Moore was born to Amelia Moore and Hyster Davis. As a little boy raised in the South he gave his life to Christ. As a young man he moved to Flint, Michigan where he became employed at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation where he retired after 40 plus years of service. Upon meeting Pastor F.O. Hockenhull at the hospital where his brother, Sylvester was having surgery, he was invited to First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Shortly after he became a Member. For the last 20 plus years he has been a faithful addition. While serving as an Usher, Silverliner, and a Volunteer for the Mother’s Board at First Trinity’s Clothing Store, and a Cook in the church kitchen, he was recognized as one of First Trinity’s most faithful servants by his current Pastor, Rev. Ezra L. Tillman Jr. He was also recognized for his “Famous Fried Chicken.” “Uncle Gene” loved his family and church family, and spending time with his friends when ever something came up he always advised us to “Put it in the Lord’s Hands.” He was a loyal Detroit Lions fan, holding season tickets for over 40 years. “Uncle Gene” leaves to cherish his memory: nieces, Barbara Crum, Debra (Elder Will) Morgan, Bobbie Poole, Stephanie Moore, Cynthia Howell-Moore, Kelly Moore and Winifred Watkins; nephews, Theodore (Karon) Moore, Donald Moore, Robert (Betty) Poole, Bryan (Karen) Poole and Lonnie Crum; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews including special great niece, Robin Goff Mills and special great-nephew, Pastor Demetris (Joye) Crum; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mother Bobbie Millhouse and family, Bro. Nathaniel Battle and Bro. Art Burns. “Uncle Gene” was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia Moore and Hyster Davis; sister, Mamie Watkins; brothers, Sylvester, Theodore and Andrew Moore; nieces, Ann Goff, Roslyn Moore and Dollester Taylor; nephews, Rufus and Leroy Goff, Rev. Ronald Moore, Booker and Norman Moore, Nick Watkins Jr., Homer and Hollis Poole. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Ezra L. Tillman Jr., Deacon Bill R. Quarles and the First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church family.
