Eugene Gill

GILL, Mr. Eugene - Age 67, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, June 1, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Pastor James Gill, Jr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Gill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. Eugene Gill was born September 9, 1939 in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Orlaver Gill, Sr. He lived in Flint most of his life and attended Flint Community Schools. He was employed with Chevrolet Manufacturing and retired in 1979. Eugene was an "excellent father" and had an infectious and loving personality to all and whom he met. He enjoyed listening to jazz, fishing, traveling, and watching boxing. Being an former amateur boxer himself, under Jerry Cavette at Elm Park. Most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends whom he loved very dearly. Mr. Eugene Gill leaves to cherish his sweet and precious memories: loving wife, Deborah Mackey-Gill; 5 daughters, Carmen Franklin, Delisa Thames, Bertina Gill, Janaya and Joletta Mackey all of Flint; 2 sons, Eugene M. Gill and (Theresa) of Swartz Creek and Darryl (Angie) Mackey; 19 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Ethel (Shane) Strange, Shirley (Timothy) Gipson, Diana Gill, all of Flint and Theresa Bransford of Swartz Creek; 6 brothers, Lindsey Shaw of Pittsburgh, PA, Pastor James (Ella) Gill, Perry (Loretta) Gill, David and Edward Gill and Lindsey (Dupreatha) Gill all of Flint; numerous other relatives and friends. Mr. Gill was preceded in death by his parents, James and Orlaver Gill, Sr.; sister, Johnnie May Frye. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Black, Genesys Regional Medical Center and 2nd floor north nursing staff, Theresa Redds of Swartz Creek, Christa Jones of Flint; the entire Trade Center crew and Mrs. Lovely Williams of New Orleans, LA.
