Mrs. Ethel Mae Winters

WINTERS, Mrs. Ethel - Age 66, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Genesys Health Park in Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, April 3, 2017 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Avenue, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church, Monday. Mrs. Winters will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 10:00 AM-6:00 PM on Sunday. Mrs. Ethel Mae Winters was born October 15, 1950 in Greensboro, AL to the late Willie & Mary Kate Ward. She confessed Christ at an early age at Greenleaf Baptist Church in Greensboro, AL. Ethel attended Hale County Training School and graduated in 1968.She later moved to Flint, MI in 1969 and worked for Foss Avenue Baptist Church as a Secretary. Ethel was employed at Fisher Body- Grand Blanc, a division of General Motors for 30 years where she retired in 2006 as a member of UAW Local #1292. Mrs. Winters loved to bake her famous pound cakes and deserts. She put her special touch on everything she made. Especially her punch. She knew everybody's birthday, and could recite any event that happened in history. She was our very own Encyclopedia Britannica. Ethel was jolly, loving, selfless person who gave her all to everything and everybody. May her soul rest peacefully as she continues to be a faithful servant for her Master. Mrs. Ethel Winters leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters, Sonja Winters of Dallas, TX, Brenda Winters, Anita (Nate) Gibson and Cheryal Winters, all of Flint; Son, David (Shantel) Winters of Flint, MI. Granddaughters Brianna Winters who she raised as her very own daughter, Deva James, Nicketa Gibson and Shanita Winters-Simpson. Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn Winters-Williams, Adrian White Jr., Edwin Perry II and Jaylin Perry. Sisters: Julia Ward-Brooks of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Lucy Borden of Flint, MI. Brothers: Royal Williams (Bernice) of Euclid, OH and Daniel Ward of Cleveland, OH. Aunts: Eliza Crawford of Birmingham, MI and Dorothy Brown of Flint, MI. A host of nieces and nephews and special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Alby Winfrey, Pastor and First Lady Flynn, Ms. Divera Earnest, Beatrice Westbrook and her entire FABC Family. Mrs. Winters was preceded in death by her Husband of 34 years, Mr. Willie Lee Winters and her parents Willie and Mary Kate Ward. The family would like to express special thanks to: The entire family of Foss Avenue Baptist Church, nurses, doctors and ICU staff of Genesys Medical Center and all of her friends who have been supportive with their prayers, warm wishes of wellness and condolences.
