Mrs. Ethel Underwood

UNDERWOOD, Mrs. Ethel - Age 61, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Ocala, Florida. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, March 17, 2023, at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 AM Pastor Daniel Moore, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Underwood will lie in state at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Ethel Lynn Underwood, known to many as “Lynn” was born on April 9, 1961, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Ethel White. She met the love of her life, Mr. Tony Underwood and they married on November 27, 1981. To this union one son was Born, Anthony. Lynn attended Flint Northwestern High School and up on graduating she received her Associate Degree in Arts and Science then she went on to receive her certification in Nursing. Lynn was employed by McLaren-Flint for 16 years. She was an avid reader which was her favorite and passionate hobby. Lynn enjoyed shopping and finding ways to hide her purchases from Tony. She also liked watching Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med. She and Tony loved their lives together and even served in the military while raising their son, Anthony. “Lynn was a virtuous woman that was a crown to her husband.” (Proverbs 12:14). Lynn Underwood was a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed meeting with friends and colleagues and talking Tony into getting them all a nightcap before they left their house for their own homes. We all love her so much; our beautiful, spiritual, sweet and loyal friend, that would give you the shirt off her back. She was a classy dresser as well. It was a profound joy to know her; her friends always enjoyed hearing the “Seven Last Words” every year. Lynn was a quiet storm; she was calm even while telling someone off. Lynn fought the good fight for the life that Jesus Christ had blessed her with. Mrs. Ethel Lynn Underwood leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Tony Underwood; son, Anthony of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Dominique and Anyla White; sister, Janey White; brother, James White Jr.; mother-in-law, Maggie Underwood; a host of brothers-in-law, cousins, other relatives and friends that she all loved and cherished dearly. Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel White.
