HENDERSON, Mrs. Ethel - Age 73, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Eld. Frederick Henderson, officiating. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr., Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mrs. Henderson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mrs. Ethel Lee (Jones) Henderson was born April 6, 1930 in Summerville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Rosie Lee Woods and Arthur James Whitthorne. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She was longtime resident of Flint and was affectionately known as "Big Mama" of Oak Park, where the family resided for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and was known by her family as the "Monarch." Her door was always open to those in need, family and friends the same. She also was a licensed Beautician and worked many years in the salon with Mrs. Mary Williams. Mrs. Ethel Lee Henderson leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Helen Gladney of Flint and Geneva (Reginald) Green of Los Angeles, CA; 4 sons, Willie Fred (Rita) Jones, MacArthur Henderson, Jessie (Marcheta) Todd all of Flint, and Frederick (Kimberly) Henderson of New Orleans, LA; 2 brothers, Ralph (Billie) Pea of Flint and Joseph (Pat) Whitthorne of Cleveland, OH; 3 sisters, Johnnie Mae Foster, James Ola Hill, and Rene (Jock) Cobbin, all of Flint; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special niece, April Williams and special friends, Mary Williams and Charles Smith. Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Whitthorne and Rosie Lee Woods; son, Roy Lee Henderson; brother, James Whitthorne.
