CHAPMAN, Mrs. Essie Mae - Age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center - Briarwood. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Pallbearers and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Chapman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Essie Mae Chapman was born October 15, 1940 in Newton, Mississippi, the daughter of Spurgeon Coleman Sr. and Inez Bradley. She lived in Flint, Michigan for sixty years and retired from Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors in 1994. Essie enjoyed being around family, friends and playing cards. She was a loving person to be around. Essie was the type of person that would give and help anyone. She was a good woman, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Essie Mae Chapman leaves to cherish her memory: children, Jerome (Avenell) Chapman, Jeanette Chapman, Marie (Ronnie) Walker and Maurice Chapman; grandchildren, Vannette Brown, Jaquonda Howard, Valisa Walker, LaToya Chapman, Javonte Bailey, Shawana Walker, Kevin (Paulette) Armstrong, Steven Redmond Jr, Jerome Chapman Jr. and Gershawn Chapman; great-grandchildren, Junior and Marshae Brown, Antonin McMillian, N’Kiya Brown, Amariyana, Briyana, Javonte Jr., Bailey Diamond and Angel Armstrong, London Armstrong, Jessay Bailey and Asia Armstrong; great-great grandchildren, Kaden Tyler and Kali McMillian; nieces, Bobbie Rogers, Dorothy Faye Chapman, Helen Chapman, Felecia Anderson, Deborah and Fred Marshall, Debra and Bruce Stewart, Rhonda and Albert Little, Tonya Powell, Bertha Williams and Marget Campbell; nephews, Dorin and Kinito Nelson, Dequon and Andrew Anderson; aunt, Rosie Grass; uncle, Jeff (Bonnie) Grass of Flint; sisters-in-law, May Chapman and Dorothy Coleman; brother-in-law, Dan (Wedale) Evans of Memphis, TN; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Amanda Eason, Ella Walker, Barbara Buford, Peggy Taylor, Patricia Collins, Mildred Calloway, Curtis Williams, Jessie Mayberry, J.C. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessie Faye Chapman; granddaughter, Ebony Chapman; father, Spurgeon Coleman Sr.; and brother, Spurgeon Coleman Jr.; former husband, Solemon Chapman.
