Mother Ernestine Abron

ABRON, Mother Ernestine - Age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Faith Temple COGIC, 5802 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Elder Eric Lewis Pastor, Pastor Lawrence Washington Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mother Abron will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mother Ernestine (White) Abron was born July 5, 1931 in Faith, Arkansas to Olzie and Zadie (Reed) White. She grew up in Pine Bluff, AR and attended Merrill High School. She later married Edd Abron and at her passing, they had been married 66 yrs. Mother Abron and husband Edd moved to Flint in 1955 where they raised their family. She was a loving and dedicated homemaker. Years later she enrolled in H&R Block Income Tax School and became a Tax Preparer. She loved learning new things by reading and traveling. She also loved meeting new people and making new friends. Mother Abron often sent greeting cards to let others know she was thinking of them. She was an active member of The Church of God on Kent Street for over 30 years, working in many capacities. She was very sincere about her calling. The song “Nothing Between My Soul and My Savior” spoke what she felt in her heart. Mother Abron is survived by her husband, Edd; seven daughters, Janet Townsend of Marion, IN, Ingrid Abron of Ypsilanti, MI, Zadia “Kay” Edmond, Lynne, Rechanda Abron, Melissa Turner and Irma Baker, all of Flint; four sons, Eddie, Nathanael and Shaphan Abron, all of Flint and Wayne Abron of Los Angeles, CA; 26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; special daughter, Lady Donna Washington; god-daughters, Vicky (Donald) Garrett of Flint and Linda Robinson of Biloxi, MS; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; 1 aunt; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mother Abron was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Andrew Abron; a grandson; her parents; one brother and a son-in-law. The family would like to express thanks to nurses, Jessica and Julie on the 5th floor ICU at McLaren-Flint Hospital.
