RISON, Mr. Ernest Willie - Age 81, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at McLaren-Flint. Mr. Rison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, December 14, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Mr. Ernest “Ernie” Willie Rison was born May 28, 1939 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Arnett Sr. and Rosie (Hudson) Rison. Ernie was called home on Sunday November 29, 2020. He was baptized at an early age. Ernest graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1958”, where he played varsity football, baseball, wrestled and was a Shot Put Thrower. He participated in the Flint Canusa Games and was also a Flint Golden Gloves Boxer. Ernest played for multiple baseball leagues. He was on the 1956 Flint Northern Football Team that was inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sport Hall of Fame in 2001. Ernest was a Supervisor at Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation, where he retired in 1999. His hobbies included fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed watching sports and “Old” Western movies and Western TV shows. Mr. Ernest “Ernie” Willie Rison leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 58 years, Fay Rison; 4 children, daughters, Terri Rison-Steve of Flint, Ernestine (Llewelyn Sr.) Wilson and Wanda Rison, all of Lansing, MI; son, Colin Rison of Flint; 6 grandchildren, Santoya (Billy Sr.) Robertson, Llewanda James, Llewellyn Wilson Jr., Armani Miller Sr., Ernest Wilson and Colin Rison; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, JimElla Willis, Catherine Jones, Merdice (Van) Coleman and Patricia Morrison; 3 brothers, Clevester (Ramona) Rison, Webster Rison Sr. and Robert Rison; 2 sisters-in-law, Rita Washington and Anita Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special niece, Cassandra Willis; close friends, Lillian Thomas, Alice Whitley, Larry Wilburn, Jimmy Clark, Scott (Pat) Csirke and Dennis (Beth) St. James. Mr. Rison was preceded in death by his parents, Arnett Sr. and Rosie Rison; 2 brothers, Mose Rison Sr. and Arnett Rison Jr. The family wishes to express special thanks to the University of Michigan Hospital staff and McLaren-Flint staff.
