JOHNSON, Mr. Ernest, Jr. "Chip" - Age 59, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Min. Tommie Chaney officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Ernest “Chip” Johnson, Jr. was born May 18, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Ernest D. and Helen E. Johnson. “Chip” was raised in Flint, Michigan, although in recent years his profession led him to Las Vegas, Nevada, San Diego, California and Missouri. “Chip” previously owned “Maintenance Engineers and was past president of Michigan Minority Contractors and The Michigan Minority Chamber of Commerce. He also started and was President of Certified Abatement (Asbestos Removal) and served as Block Club President. "Chip" was also an avid Motorcyclist and a member of the Boogie Down Motorcycle Club. He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Ernest D. Johnson III; daughter, Rhonda C. Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Taylor Johnson and Brandon Carr, all of Flint; father, Ernest (Mary C.) Johnson; 2 sisters, Leslie A. Batson and Angela (Marvin) Hughes; brother, James Franklin III; special nieces, Kristen “Bunny” McNeal and children and Terrie Florence and family; aunts, Frankie Knight and Frankie Johnson; uncle, Theodore (Vicki) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, Helen E. “Mikki” Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Hospice and Nurse Jim, Hurley Medical Center Emergency and 9th floor nurses and staff, Dr. J. Burdette. Also the family would like to thank Ren’e James, Margaret “Ann” Chaney our families Guardian Angels and Cloddie Johnson for her continued help and support.
