FISHER, Mr. Ernest Jr. - Age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St. with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Charles E. Roots, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Fisher will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Ernest Fisher Jr. was born October 6, 1935 in Marianna, Arkansas, the son of Ernest Fisher, Sr. and Hattie Marie Fisher. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church for 62 years. Mr. Fisher graduated from Robert R. Moton High School in 1953, and moved to Flint shortly after graduating. He became employed at Chevrolet Metal Fabricating Plant as a Die Setter, and was a member of UAW Local #659. Mr. Fisher retired from Chevrolet in 1988 after 31 years of employment. In 1981, he married the late Francis Marie Fisher and they were married 33 years until her death in 2014. Mr. Fisher was a former member of Oman Temple No. 72 of Flint. He also was a dedicated Alcohol Anonymous (AA) Sponsor and celebrated 28 years of sobriety. He spread the word of sobriety by teaching at Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, Michigan and at the Genesee County Jail in Flint for more than 25 years. He was well respected by both staff and inmates alike. Mr. Fisher loved sports and enjoyed watching old western movies, playing cards, bowling, traveling, and caring for his lawn. He loved music of all genres and owned an extensive music collection. He especially loved the blues and one of his favorite songs was, “Last Two Dollars” by Johnnie Taylor. He also loved to dress from head-to-toe with “everything” coordinating. Mr. Fisher loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with not only his immediate family, but his extended Cleveland, Ohio family as well. Mr. Ernest Fisher Jr. leaves to cherish his memories: 3 daughters, Kim Lynette Wilson of Henderson, NV, Tanya Renee’ Fisher of Tucker, GA, and Deborah Lynne Fisher-Grant of Flint; 3 sons, Alexen Kocoa Jamal (Bridgett) Fisher of Fort Worth, TX, Edward Scruggs of Cleveland, OH, and William W. (Lana) Davis-Cooper of South Euclid, OH; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends including cousin, Bobby Eason; mother-in-law, Bessie Mae “Ma Dear” Livingston; former wife, Dolores Harris, and mentee/friend, Tony Handlin. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Marie Fisher; father, Ernest Fisher, Sr.; mother, Hattie Marie Fisher; sister, Pearl Jean Richardson; and brother, Charles Alfred Fisher.
