Mr. Ernest Wendell Bransford Sr.

BRANSFORD, Mr. Ernest W., Sr. - Age 91, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, May 6, 2024, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church 3502 Lapeer Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Rabon Turner, officiating. Entombment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Monday. Mr. Bransford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will not be a public viewing. Mr. Ernest Wendell Bransford Sr. was born August 27, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Etollia Bransford. The Lord called Ernest home on April 29, 2024, he was surrounded by loved ones. Ernest was saved and baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Indianapolis Public School and graduated from Crispus Attuck High School, “Class of 1951.” Ernest married Pauline E. (Gahn) Bransford. They moved to Flint, Michigan in 1952. He was a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. Ernest worked at a variety of General Motors Plants for 47 years and retired from Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant in 2000. Ernest enjoyed working in his yard; his grass was like fresh green carpet. You would want to take your shoe off to walk on it. He also enjoyed listening to Classical Jazz 1420, watching CNN News, old westerns, SBN and all sports. Ernest was a very unique dresser, when he dressed to go to an event he would be sharper than a two-edged sword. He took tons of pictures of the family and of different events. Mr. Ernest Wendell Bransford Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Alicia P. Ganaway of Houston, TX; 2 sons, Ernest W. Bransford Jr. of Flushing, MI and Kenneth B. (Jacqueline) Bransford of Burton, MI; grandchildren, Ayanna Jones, Janell (Isiah) Harris, all of Fort Wayne, IN, Jamila Bransford of Woodbridge, VA, Emil Bransford of Flint, Jaylen Bransford of BayCity, MI, Jelani (Moneake) Bransford Sr. of Linden, MI, Jamal (Cherese) Bransford of Mt. Morris, MI, Rashida (Marcus Sr.) Staten, Safiya (Christopher) Ashford of Burton, MI, Akilah Young, Angeleic Ganaway, both of Houston and Chekeeth Hamlin of Killeen, TX; sister, Maceola Bransford of Indianapolis, IN; brother, John Bransford of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Bransford of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Bransford was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline E. Bransford; parents, Kenneth G. and Etollia E. (Coleman) Bransford; brother, Gilbert Bransford; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; and great-grandson.
