JOHNSON, Mother Ermie - Age 92, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Maple Woods Manor - Clio, MI. Family hour 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, G-5283 Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Rev. Dr. K. D. Yarber officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Mother Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., with family present 6 p.m - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mother Ermie L. Johnson was born September 16, 1922 in Macon, Mississippi to Mr. & Mrs. Gus and Susie Bell. After the passing of her father, she and her mother moved to Columbus, MS. Ermie moved to Flint, MI in 1944 bringing her 4 year old nephew with her. She joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ira Watkins; later under the leadership of Pastor J.C. Curry. Ermie became Supervisor of the Junior Usher Board. She held that position for over 32 years. Ermie loved her Junior Ushers and they loved her. She often said she would put them up against any other board. Ermie also served as President of the Circle of Moses for many years. Mother Johnson let many people stay in her home until they got on their feet. She later joined Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor K.D. Yarber. Mother Ermie L. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory: beloved nephew/son, Thomas (Louise) Bell; nieces, Rev. Bernadine McRipley of Levittown, PA, Loretta Grant of Flint, MI, Armie Nell McLoud of Macon, MS, Mary Ann Tippett of St. Louis, MO; grandniece, Yolanda (Jeffrey Sr.) Cross of Flushing, MI; grandnephew, Zachary (Karen) Bell Sr. of Pearland, TX; great-grandniece, Kristina Bell; 2 great-grandnephews, Jeffery Cross Jr. and Zachary Bell Jr. Mother Ermie L. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack and Titus, and grandnephew Earl Bell. Mother Ermie L. Johnson had many friends at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, as well as other churches, Thanks to Earlene Underwood, Deloris Drake, Lawrence and Ann White, Calvin Sr., Bernadette and Calvin Jr. Coleman, Dellmarie Petty, Dr. Fleetwood, Stephanie, Ramona, Nicki, Ashley, Sarah, Adam, and Steve at Maple Woods Manor.
