Ms. Ermalee "Shirley" Walker

WALKER, Ms. Ermalee "Shirley" - Age 81, passed away Saturday May 22, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 Thursday June 3, 2021 from United Outreach Ministries, 1249 Roosevelt Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM Elder Carl E. Johnson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10:30 AM Thursday. Ms. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Ms. Ermalee “Shirley” Walker was born May 4, 1940 in Welch, West Virginia, the youngest of eight children born to the late William and Vergie Walker; Ermalee affectionately called “Shirley” was raised in west Virginia where she confessed her faith, was baptized and accepted Jesus in her life at an early age. Shirley moved to Flint, Michigan in the early 80’s. She was a dedicated and devoted member and Church Mother for over 20 years at El Shaddai Ministries Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Supt. Steve A. Hawkins Sr. A woman of prayer, faith and love with such a beautiful spirit and smile. Shirley loved her family , singing and used to love cooking before her health declined. Ms. Ermalee “Shirley” Walker leaves to cherish her memories: one and only child, Tabitha Haygood; only grandchild, En’Dea Haygood, both of Flint Township, MI; precious dog, Coco; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Chanetta Godwin; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins including the Walker, Collins, Wade and Cardwell families; sister-in-law, Irene Walker of Brooklyn, NY; a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vergie Walker; 4 sisters, Ruby Cook, Sandra Wade, Mildred Cardwell and Juanita Collins; 3 brothers, William “Jimmy” Walker, John Edward “Red” Walker and Robert Walker Sr.; son-in-law, Elwood Haygood; special nephew, Aaron Wade; and many other family members. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and special thanks to Dr. Ahmed Arif and staff, Hurley Medical Center, the Medical Team Hospice Care, Claudia, Jennifer, Ebony, Keisha and Cary. Also, special thanks and appreciation to El Shaddai Ministries, Pastor Carlton and Lady Cathy Johnson, United Outreach Ministries, Pastor LaMarcus Keels, Lady Charlotte Keels, Hurley Medical Records, Wyntis and Robert.
