WICKWARE, Mrs. Erma Jean – Went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 29, 2009. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, September 4, 2009 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth, with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Rev. Kenneth Gillard officiating, Rev. Roosevelt Austin, Interim Host Pastor, Pastor James Flowers, Eulogist. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mrs. Wickware will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Erma Jean Wickware was born in El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Emmette and Anna Brown. Mrs. Wickware was a lifelong resident of Flint. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she was a very active member for over 50 years, until her ill health. She was past Assistant Church Treasurer. Mrs. Wickware was also a member of the Ada Berry Bible Class, Thursday Afternoon Club and the Optimist Club. She was employed with A.C. Spark Plug, a division of General Motors, retiring in 1985 with 44 years of service. Mrs. Wickware enjoyed shopping, spending time with her church family, children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: 2 devoted daughters, Dianne (Rev. Ernest) Martin and Venita Rose Jones; son, Robert S. Wickware; 2 stepsons, Clarence (Kamal) Wickware, Jr., of Chicago, IL and Leland Jacobs of Milwaukee, WI; granddaughter, Vona Lucas; 4 grandsons, Richard Lee Robbs, Jr., Leon R. (Teresa) Lucas, Darius Johnson and Robert S. Wickware, Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren, Sirafino Davis, India Davis and Jeremiah Lucas, all of Flint; son-in-law, Leon Lucas; 2 sisters-in-law, Ollie Brown and Mildred (Wilbur) Payne; brother-in-law, Harold Carter of Ypsilanti, MI; special niece, Patricia Prince; special nephew, Rodger Neely and family; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends including Mamie Cleveland, Lennie Straham, Delores Innis, Iris Marable, the Tillage, Verdun and Brady families, Cynthia Burton, Martha Lancaster, Bob Goss, Mrs. Almond, Al Simmons and family. Mrs. Wickware was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wickware; parents, Emmette and Anna Brown; 2 sisters, Ruth Neely and Maxine Cottner; 2 brothers, Andrew and Emmette Brown; and son-in-law, Freddie Jones.
