WELCH, Ms. Erma J. - age 66, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Apostle Clarence Lewis officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Ms. Welch will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Ms. Erma Jean Welch was born February 18, 1948 in Ozan, Arkansas, the daughter of Andrew B. Adams and Lurane Allen. She moved to Flint, Michigan at the age of 9. Erma graduated from Flint Central High School, “Class of 1965.” She gave her life to the Lord over 20 years ago and made her mind up to win souls to Christ. Erma retired from Hurley Medical Center with over 30 years of service, but was always visiting the sick telling them about Christ. She also traveled to Haiti to win souls. Erma gave to charities in and out of the country. She had been a Chaplin at the Genesee County Jail where she ministered to the women twice weekly for over 10 years. Erma always helped families in need and was a member of New Beginnings Ministries. She was a mother of 2 children and grandmother of 3. Ms. Erma Jean Welch leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Cara LaShawn Collins-Fuller; son, Max Byron (Felicia) Scott II; step-daughter, Remonia (Anthony) Harris; grandchildren, Serenity Rose Anderson, Caleb Myles Fuller, Jailah Christine Scott, Max Byron Scott III and William Christopher Anderson; mother, Lurane Allen of Flint; 3 sisters, Lorraine (Raydell) Munerlyn, Gloria Ann Allen and Tamarla Adams; brother, Frank Allen, Jr.; 3 nieces, Alari Adams, Paris J. Adams and Stephanie Munerlyn; 3 nephews, Saleem Rushdan, Jordan E. Munerlyn and Raydell Munerlyn, Jr.; 2 aunts, Dora Jordan and Birthina Webster; 3 uncles, Rufus Adams, Herbert Adams and Lareter Jordan; sister-in-law, Janice Adams; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Min. Sharon Riley, Archie Byrd and Bobby Roberts. Ms. Welch was preceded in death by her father, Andrew B. Adams; step-parents, Jettie B. Adams and Frank Allen, Sr.; grandparents, Luke and Maebelle Adams, Thudis and Rowden Jordan; brother, Leroy Adams; aunts, Mary Taylor and Allowese Langston; uncles, William Earl Jordan, Luke Adams, Arthur Adams, Frank Jordan, James Jordan, Sr. and Larry Jordan; cousin, Reggie Adams. The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses of McLaren-Flint CCU, Kara, Russ, Chad, Charles and Dennis.
