HAYGOOD, Mr. Elwood E. - Age 57, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Riverside Tabernacle, 429 North Bound Chavez Dr., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo Host Pastor. Pastor Steve Hawkins officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Haygood will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Elwood Eugene Haygood was born January 15, 1958 in Rochester, NY to the late Barbara Shaw and David Haygood, Sr. He was employed with Grand Blanc Public School Systems for over 25 years and worked as a Gospel announcer “DJ” at WFLT 1420 AM for over 20 years. Elwood was known as “JoyBoy”. He was a lover of music of all kinds, and was a member in the past of the band ‘Hunts Determination’; where he enjoyed playing the congo’s and multiple other instruments, as he had multiple talents. Elwood, known to some as “Doc”, “Ed”, “El”, “Wood”, and “JoyBoy”, had this very magnetic, outgoing, personality that could get along with anyone. He was animated, funny, talked loud, loved to laugh and make you laugh. Elwood was just an overall fun, loving person. Mr. Elwood Eugene Haygood leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of over 20 years, Tabitha Haygood of Flint; 2 daughters, Tawanna (Eric) Randle of Colorado Springs, CO, En’Dea “Boo” Haygood of Flint; son, Quincey (Valerie) Haygood of Wheaton, IL; 4 grandchildren, Corey Green of Fayetteville, NC, Chelsea Randle of Colorado Springs, CO, Quincey Haygood, Jr. and Marquan Haygood both of Flint; father, David (Lilly) Haygood, Sr. of Rochester, NY; mother-in-law, Ermalee “Shirley” Walker of Flint; 3 sisters, Debra (Cornelius) Jackson of Southfield, MI, Wendy Blount of Florida, Cristal (Kevin) Wilson of Rochester, NY; 2 brothers, David (Carolyn) Haygood and Brian Haygood all of Rochester, NY; nieces, Lonette Jackson of Flint, Zakia Wilson of Florida, Brieana and Chanel Haygood both of Rochester, NY; a host of other relatives and friends including the Bagsby family. Mr. Elwood Eugene Haygood was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Shaw, grandparents and many other relatives. The Haygood family would like to express special thanks to Hurley medical Center Doctors and Nursing staff, Dr. Eustace, Chanetta Godwin, Mattie Pearson, El-Shaddai Ministries, United outreach Ministries, Riverside tabernacle, WFLT, and band members of ‘Hunts Determination’.
