Mr. Elstanley Willis Sr.

WILLIS, Mr. Elstanley Sr. - age 67, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Willis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Elstanley Willis Sr. was born February 25, 1947 in Ullin, Illinois, the son of L.D. and Lucille (Summers) Willis. He was a resident of Flint since 1968 and a member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Elstanley worked for General Motors retiring after 34 years of service. He was a master bowler, golfer, fisherman, barber, photographer, mentor and teacher. Elstanley was also a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He also participated for over 30 years in Big Brother Big Sister Bowling program. Elstanley served 2 years in the Navy with a Honorable Discharge. Mr. Elstanley Willis Sr. leaves to cherish in his memory: former wife of 38 years Erie Yvonne (Worley) Willis; 4 sons, Bruce, Sidney, Keith (LaToya) Willis all of Flint and Elstanley Jr. (Angela) Willis of Ft. Wayne, IN; 10 grandchildren, Nicole Jaggers of Bossier City, LA, Trenton Kevon, Elstanley III (Tre’), Devante, Brandon, Elishia, Zion, Kingstan Willis Jordan Leandres and Sidney Jr. Willis all of Flint; great-grandchild, Dashon Pride-Willis; sister, Jamesetta Lagrone; 5 brothers, Earl (Jean) Willis, L.D (Kim) Willis., Vincent Willis, Verneil Willis and Cranston Willis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ivy Blount, Dorothy Royster, Henry Hill, Willie Cox and Robert Mabry. Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Lucille Willis; 4 sisters, Roveena Riley, Janiece Crayton, Dorothy Meals and Arneta Ellis and 2 brothers, Wilbert Meals and Gerald Willis. The family would like to express a special thank you to Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn, friends, relatives who traveled near and far to celebrate the life of Elstanley Willis Sr.
