BATTS-TUCKER, Mrs. Elnora - Age 85, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Genesys Health Park - Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p..m. Friday. Mrs. Tucker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mother Elnora Batts Tucker was born October 27, 1929 in Wilson, North Carolina to John and Dora Williams Batts. She attended public school in Wilson County, NC. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Horace “Jack” Tucker on April 7, 1953 in Washington D.C., thereafter they moved to Flint, MI with their daughter. Mother Tucker was founding member of Mission of Peace Pentecostal Temple. She also joined the Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Nurses Ministry and Faith Temple Church Of God In Christ, where she served as a Mother. She returned to her roots in 2014 where she remained until her death. She was also a member of the Tucker and Ward Family Club. Mother Tucker’s favorite sayings were “I be John Brown” or “I be Sam Jones” when something was said that she couldn’t believe. Mother Tucker loved children, she was a sitter and provided care for many families over the years. She loved to cook and baked great tasting cakes, especially pound cakes and pineapple coconut cakes. She was also a very good seamstress. Her favorite song was “I will trust in the Lord” and her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Mother Elnora Batts Tucker leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Regina Tucker (Duane) Willis; 2 granddaughters, Courtney Rene’ Dickerson, and Jazman Nicole Tucker; great grandson, Jackson Alexander Moore; 2 nieces, Delores Epps of Fort Washington, MD, and Veora Riggins of Washington, D.C.; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Della M. Tucker, Milton (Yvonee) Tucker, and Flora M. Ward all of Flint, and Janice Tucker-Carter of Las Vegas, NV; a host of other relatives and friends including a host of nieces and nephews in the Tucker and Ward family, special friends include, Betty Reynolds, Paula Burns, Rita Coleman; best friends, Elnora Walker of North Carolina, Alice McNeal of Washington D.C., Louise Payne, Bessie Steward, Frances Duncan, and Janette Jackson all of Flint; god-son, John Anthony “Man” Slappy of St. Louis, MO, and the“best son-in-law in the world Duane Willis”. Mother Tucker was preceded in death by: her husband, Horace “Jack” Tucker; parents, John Hardy and Dora Batts; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; granddaughter, LaGina V. Tucker, 2 great grandchildren Janiza Tucker and Deveare Tucker; 3 sisters-in-law; 7 brothers-in-law; 2 nieces; and 2 nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor; 3rd floor MICU, Dr. Mys and staff, 2 North Hospice Care, Nurse Shari at Genesys Regional Medical Center, Dr. Inderjit S. Bhatti, Rev. Elmira Smith-Vincent and the Mission of Peace Pentecostal Church family, Rev. Dr. Mark Anthony Jones, Sr. and the Christ Fellowship Baptist Church family, and Elder Eric Lewis and the Faith Temple Church Of God In Christ family and to all of our friends and family members for your prayers and all other acts of kindness that you may have shown.
