Mrs. Elizabeth Washington

WASHINGTON, Mrs. Elizabeth - Age 89, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Elder Brian D. Grundy, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025. Mrs. Washington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Friday, January 3, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mrs. Elizabeth Washington was born on October 15, 1935 in Orlando, Florida. She was the second youngest of six children born to Wilmer and Joeanah Hopkins. Elizabeth was a high school graduate of Jones Highschool in Orlando. In 1959 she married John Washington and they were blessed with one child, Pinkie Elizabeth Darisaw. They relocated to Flint, Michigan where she served her family as a homemaker and John worked at Fisher body. Elizabeth was a long time member of Civic Heights Church Of God In Christ and later became a member of Greater New Bethel Church Of God In Christ until her health failed and she was no longer able to attend. Elizabeth loved many things of which her love for the Lord and church was paramount. She would crochet regularly, played the organ, and loved to travel down south to see friends and family. She dedicated her life to caring for others and had a deep love for all children. Her calm demeanor and caring spirit helped all that she interacted with. Mrs. Elizabeth Washington leaves to cherish her memory: 3 grandchildren, Carolyn Silas, Terri Darisaw and LaKeesa Darisaw, all of Flint; great-grandchildren, Shameka (Juan) Shelby of Auburndale, FL, LaShaya Darisaw of Flint, Marko (Chasity) Rubin of Houston, TX, Ant’Quniece Lee Jackson of Flint, Larry (Giovanni) Boyce of Atlanta, GA, Tieranee Silas of Flint, Kenneth Silas II of Southfield, Terrence Grayson Jr. of Canton, MI, and Nevaeh Darisaw-Love of Flint; 17 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including special niece, Annell Evans of Orlando, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mattie Pearl Streeter, Barbara Dogans, and Gerald Dukes. Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Washington; daughter Pinkie E. Darisaw, grandchildren, Tammy N. Grayson, Trista L. Darisaw, and Derrick Evans; great grandson, Isaiah N. Darisaw; father, Wilmer Hopkins; mother, Joeanah Hopkins; sisters, Ethel Lee Swilley, Margie Frazier, Oris Nell Randall, Eddie Mae Love, and Blanche Cohen; brother, William Hopkins.
