Ms. Elisha Massey

MASSEY, Ms. Elisha - Age 43, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at her residence. Ms. Massey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, April 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM, with the family present to receive friends. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. My dad always said life is just a journey. My journey began on Mother’s day, May 10, 1975 in Providence, Rhode Island. My parents, Bill and Henryetta Massey were hoping for a boy, but I fooled them, which started me on a path of pranks, jokes and comedy. I kept my siblings, Rodriguez (Camillia), Evangela (Felix), Kenosha (Trouble), Daron (Quisha), Rarchelle (Tim) and Billy (Heather) laughing and on guard all the time. I was often told, I played too much. Growing up with strict parents and Aunt Faye and Uncle Albert on the side line wasn’t easy. Therefore, I couldn’t wait to graduate and become an adult, but my journey would take an unexpected turn 2 weeks before graduating, when I was diagnose with childhood brittle diabetes followed by multiple autoimmune disorders. After 25 years of battling with multiple surgeries, amputations, 4 code blues and finally dialysis, I felt as if I had been through more battles than King David and often as sick as Job. My dad had named me Elisha so that I would receive a double portion of Elijah spirit. I now know that the Lord was directing him because with all the suffering came pain, fears, and tears of what tomorrow might bring. I learned that tomorrow is not promised to me, there is a time to be born, which the Lord blessed me with 3 children: Elissa, Thomas and Quinayja and I never thought I would live to see my grandchildren, Jaxon and Taliyah. I would often pray that the Lord would allow me to be here to celebrate my youngest daughter, Quinayja’s 18th birthday on April 26, 2019, I almost made it, but was 6 days short. Thank you Jesus, for answering my prayer because Quinayja and I will be celebrating my homegoing service and her birthday together. I also have learned there is a time to die, so do not weep for me, but smile because my father has blessed and kept me. My father has made his face shine upon me and he has been gracious unto me and lifted me up with his countenance. My father has given me his peace. Thank you everyone for all your visits, prayers, words of comfort, food runs and laughing at my jokes, especially Dee and Vona. Special thanks to Pastor and First Lady Wiggins for your multiple visits, prayers and bringing me McDonalds in the middle of the night. Elisha leaves to cherish her memories: parents; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; many nieces and nephews and host of aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends. Elisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Geneva & Walter Massey, JoAnn & Robert Modica.
