AYERS, Mrs. Elise - Age 85, moved from labor to reward on Thursday, May 9, 2007 at Bethany Terrace Nursing Centre in Morton Grove, Illinois. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Marvin Jennings officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the church 10:30AM Tuesday. Mrs. Ayers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Elise M. Ayers, age 85, moved from labor to reward on May 9, 2007 at Bethany Terrace Nursing Centre in Morton Grove, Illinois. Sister Ayers was a faithful tithing member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church for 37 years where she regularly attended Sunday School Adult Class and served in the Woman's Chorus. Sister Ayers's ministry of love and encouragement was given to many in her church family and the community. Her professional career spanned over 70 years including but not limited to the Cook Country Assessor's office and Michigan Unemployment Office retiring from the Michigan Family Independence Agency. Though small in statue, Sister Ayers was a giant of a woman with a heart of gold, an engaging smile, and an endless opinion on everything. She leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Delores Hunt (Chicago, IL); 4 children, Charles E. (Marilyn) (Omaha, NE), Noreen Winningham (Skokie, IL), Marlene R. (George) Smith (Flint, MI), & Ralph Samuel Winningham (Tallahassee, FL); 1 stepson, Ernest Ayers (Flint, MI); 14 grandchildren, including Alexander Winningham, Aaron Hill, Charlise Hill, George N. Smith IV, Kianga Winningham, Kiedra Winningham, Kimberly (Kevin) Wells, Lauren Elizabeth Smith, Taylor Winningham and William Lawrence Smith. 10 great grandchildren, Avery Hill, Breanna Winningham, Chase Smith, Dontay Wells, Dwaune Winningham, Dwayne Winningham, Jordan Hill, LuJuan Winningham, Reginald July, Shaw-nee Winningham and TreShawn Winningham; 3 nephews, Carl (Debra) Coleman, Ronald Coleman & Kevin Hunt; niece, Linda (Dwight Battle) McClary; 4 great nieces, Carla (Ian) Hatter, Stacey McClary, Tonya Coleman, and Yvette Coleman. 1 great nephew Ronald Coleman; Her pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church Family, and a host of friends including Margaret Drain and dearly departed Dorothy Leighton. And the family of caregivers at Bethany Terrace.
