Mother Elgean Wade

WADE, Mother Elgean - Age 68, passed away Monday, April 27, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., 5802 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Eric W. Lewis officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mother Wade will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mother Elgean Wade was born January 19, 1945 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the union of Robert and Mattie Lee. Mother Wade was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Hurley Medical Center, Kith Haven and retired from Heartland Health Care Center-Briarwood in 2007. She accepted Christ as her Savior and served faithfully at Faith Temple COGIC under the leadership of Bishop Fred Lewis, Sr. and Pastor Eric W. Lewis. Mother Wade loved to pray and the Word of God. She was a licensed missionary; Mother Wade served faithfully on the following auxiliaries: Mother’s Board, Co-President of Prayer & Bible Band, Home & Foreign Missions, and Sick Committee. She served as a volunteer at the Carriage Town Ministries. Mother Wade loved fishing, cooking and going on picnics. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Mother was an inspiration to others and always wore a smile. She acquired two love birds “Patty” and “Tina” who became her children. Mother Elgean Wade leaves to cherish her memories, a special great-niece, Toinette L. McDonald of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews from Michigan, Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL and Hammond, IN; a host of friends and special friends, Mother Dorothy Tolbert, Evangelist Helen Turner and Barbie A. Wilson to cherish her memories and great times. Mother Wade was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mattie Lee; brothers, Robert Lee, Jr., AD Lee and T.D. Lee; nieces, Shirley Lee McDonald and Kattie Lee; great niece, Jeanette McDonald. The family would like to express special thanks to Bishop Fred Lewis and Mother S. Lewis; Pastor Eric Lewis & Mrs. Lewis, the Faith Temple COGIC Church family, Mother Charlene Fortner and the CCU Nurses at Hurley Medical Center.
