Mrs. Elexis Godfrey Moore

MOORE, Mrs. Elexis - Age 60, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, September 10, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home. 10:30 PM Saturday. Mrs. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held during the family hour only. Mrs. Elexis Godfrey Moore was born October 6, 1961 in New York, New York, the daughter Evelyn (McSwain) Snipes and William Godfrey. Elexis was born in New York, but spent the majority of her life in Broadway and Sanford, North Carolina. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 2006. In her earlier years, while living in North Carolina she worked for the State of North Carolina doing social work. Once moving to Flint she continued her social work career until she left the field to pursue other interests. Elexis was a very loving and inviting person, making friends wherever she went. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elexis made sure to put action to the word love for the people in her life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and church family. Elexis is loved by many and will be greatly missed. Elexis was an active member at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where Michael Pettigrew is the Pastor. She enjoyed participating in activities at the church where she was a part of the Pastor’s Aide. She also had a special connection and love for Mt. Sinai Baptist Church family and enjoyed being an Usher, where Morris Collins is the Pastor. In North Carolina she grew up in the Tempting Community where she attended Tempting Congregational Church for many years. Mrs. Elexis Godfrey Moore leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Adria Moore of Flint and Anita Moore of Los Angeles County, CA; grandchildren, Jeree Davis of Lansing, MI, Jaden Murchison, Demani Moore, both of Flint, Akira Murchison of St. Louis, MO and Amexem Moore of California; 3 sisters, Victoria “Vicky” Chesney, Frances “Vina” Godfrey and honorary sister, Rachel Covington, all of Sanford, NC; 2 brothers, Roderick “Rock” McSwain an Clarence Davenport of Florida; 3 nieces, Charlene Ferguson, Brittany Brown-Brooks and Tisha Brown, all of Sanford, NC; church sister, Geneva Harvey; special family, brothers-in-love, Earl Richmond, Lorenzo Clegg and Eric Richmond of North Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Linda Palmer and Jewel Johnson. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her son, Michael Moore Jr.; parents, Evelyn Snipes and William Godfrey. The family would like to express special thanks to Geneva Harvey.
