SMITH, Mr. Eldward D. - Age 60, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at his residence. Family hour 4:30 PM Saturday, October 12, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 5:00 PM. Pastor Anderson, officiating. Interment 10:00 AM Monday, October 14, 2024 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 4:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Eldward D. Smith “Wayne” was born April 3, 1964 in Wheatly, Arkansas, the youngest son of Earnest and Maurine Smith. Eldward “Wayne” began his education in Wheatly, AR prior to moving to Flint, (Beecher), Michigan at the age of 12. He graduated from Flint Beecher High School, “Class of 1983.” Eldward accepted Christ at and early age, attending church with family and friends. Prior to becoming ill, he was a Professional Painter, traveling the United States, painting farm buildings and equipment. Eldward also held employment as a Rigger with a Circus Company out of Florida and he previously worked at Hayes Wheels in Holly, MI. Eldward enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Eldward D. Smith “Wayne” leaves to cherish his memory: former wife, Pam; son, Edward Dewayne Smith Jr.; 5 sisters, Naurine Dixion, Dorothy M. Miller, Zetta Swanigan, all of Flint, Erma Galloway of Houston, TX and Ida M. Johnson of Kentucky; 3 brothers, Danny (LaVerne) Smith of Atlanta, GA, Larry Smith and Lee V. Smith of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 2 sisters-in-law, Delores Smith, Paula Smith, and Doretha Breed; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Maurine Smith; grandmother, Ollie Payne; brothers, Nathaniel, Willie, Earnest Jr. and Louis Charles Smith; 2 nieces, Sheila Smith and Deborah Miller; brother-in-law, Willie Swanigan; sisters-in-law, Pat Smith and Willie Lee Smith. The family would like to express special thanks to God for giving us Wayne for 60 years. To everyone that took time out of their day to be here today including his special friend, Carol.
